Over the weekend I was catching up on some fashion news and I came across an article on WWD.com that Christian Louboutin will be designing shoes for Barbie.

According to WWD.com: Mattel, the maker of Barbie, has partnered with Louboutin for a multifaceted program under which the shoe designer will serve as a yearlong godfather to Barbie, not just rethinking her fashion wardrobe and physical attributes, but also art directing her in different lifelike situations.


The project includes the Barbie-pink, red-soled Louboutin shoes that premiered in Barbie’s birthday runway show during New York Fashion Week in February, a Barbie doll and accessories collection customized by the designer and a diary filled with images of Louboutin and Barbie as they explore the cobbler’s favorite things.  For more go to http://www.wwd.com/.

Black Girls Rock Fundraiser

On Friday October 17th The 4th Annual Black Girls Rock fundraiser took place at the New York Times Center. According to the blackgirlsrockit website, THE 2009 BLACK GIRLS ROCK!' AWARDS ANNUAL FUNDRAISER  HONORED MARY J. BLIGE, RAVEN SYMONƒ, SONIA SANCHEZ, NAOMI CAMPBELL, JANELLE MON惬 DJ SPINDERELLA, DR. MEHRET MANDEFRO.

BLACK GIRLS ROCK!™Inc.'s main fundraising event to provide creative arts programs and mentoring for teenage women of color. In the past, the awards have brought together a cadre of some of the most influential names in entertainment, business, education, fashion, politics and philanthropy.

A couple of our favorite curvy girls were there representing

RAVEN SYMONE-She has been doing big things since her debut on the Cosby show as Olivia. She is working on a 5th studio album. Her hit Nickelodeon show That's So Raven has spawned her a perfume deal and clothing line. A few years ago she was rumored to be worth $50Million dollars. She is a true role model for young girls and women. I think the media and the African American community does not talk about or promote her as much as they should. I applaud her for keeping her head on straight without the drugs and alcohol.

When it comes to Raven's fashion sense, I am on the fence. Sometimes she looks really nice and sometimes, I wanna say, fire your stylist and hire me. As for this dress, I think she looks nice, but, it is a little too long and the suede high boots do not compliment the dress. The draping around the front of the dress looks a little messy. She looks a little Elvira-ish. I think she could have done side swept bangs and she should have smiled in this picture. However, her body looks good in the dress. What do you think about Raven's look?

QUEEN LATIFAH- Everyone knows this curvacious beauty. I think she looks very chic and trendy. Latifah is always well put together. She rocked a black sequined three quarter sleeve jacket, black zebra print leggings, and a pair of peep toe booties. The queen always manages to look young and sexy.

You see Karl Lagerfeld, you can be plus size and look just as good as the size 0 models you have walking down your runway. In the words of Sean "Diddy" Combs, TAKE THAT!

First, let me say that I like Mariah Carey, but sometimes, I just have to question some of her outfit choices. Some of the things that she wears are a little skimpy and cheesy looking. As I was cruising through the celebrity pictures on Essence.com I came across a picture of Mariah at an album signing event and this is the cutest and most put together I have ever seen her look.

My Rants And Raves Of The Day

Do you ever have days where you just rant and rave about what's going on in pop culture or fashion? Today is one of those days for me. Here is what I'm ranting and raving about today.

RAVES

Khloe Kardashian

I am getting a little tired of Khloe Kardashian on the cover of Life & Style magazine talking about her weight. According to Life & Style, a couple of bloggers trashed the way Khloe looked on her wedding day. They basically said she looked fat. Those bloggers must be blind. What I don't understand is how they can call Khloe fat. What fat girls do you know that prance around in bikini's on the cover of national magazines? I think Khloe should just ignore the name calling and begin living her life with less conversation about her weight. She herself, must know that she is not fat. I can't help to think if she wants to be considered small like her sisters. I think sometimes when we are larger than family members or friends we become the elephant in the room. We feel like we have to be transparent and always discuss our weight. We often make jokes about our weight in comparison to someone who is smaller. I feel like there is not an episode of the Kardashians where Khloe does not talk about how big she is. Khloe, you look great and you don't have to prove anything to anyone.You can be a size 0 and there will be someone out there calling you fat. Let's move on from this.

ON THE FENCE

Tyra Banks

You may have noticed a new slimmer natural looking Tyra Banks. People are talking about her new look everywhere. On her talk show she explained that her recent weightloss is due to a bet with her ANTM staff members on who could lose the most weight in a certain amount of time. Tyra said she is extremely competitive and wanted to win. She sought out a nutritionist and started recording in a food journal what she would eat on a daily basis. The result is a slimmer fit Tyra. People are saying she is back to her Victoria's Secret model size. I applaud her for getting fit, but, my question is how long will this last? It's always fun and exciting when you lose weight, but, once the exciement begins to simmer and the donuts start to call, will she gain the weight back? One thing I can say about Tyra is that she embraces her body whether its 161 pounds or 130 pounds. Tyra is one of those women who looks good at any weight. I actually liked the way she looked at 161 pounds. What do you think about Tyra's new weightloss?

Serena Williams

Serena Williams was spotted wearing this 3.1 Philip Lim flapper dress. People seem to be torn on whether or not Serena looks good in the dress or not. One of my favorite gossip blogs MediaTakeout.com did not care for the look. I have to say, I am a little torn myself. I think the color of the dress is great for Serena's complexion, but, I am not sure that the hair and makeup complimented the dress. What really throws the look off to me are the flesh tone stockings with black pumps.

I would have opted for no stockings a sexier pair of black shoes or a neutral color pair of shoes, and my hair would have been pulled back. The beaded detail on the dress takes center stage. Which is why I would have opted forneutral colored accessories. She could definitely lose the necklace because it competes with the design.

Do you think Serena nailed this look or is back to the drawing board.

Leather Bombers

I love bomber jackets because they add a bit of edge to any outfit. They make me feel like I am one of the pink ladies from Grease. I love that you can utilize the bomber to show off your curves when its worn with a pair of skinny jeans or a fitted dress. I remember when I went on a date with this guy for Valentines day and I wore this black leather bomber jacket with a pair of DKNY Soho jeans that were way too tight, but, I was young and did not care. The jacket hit just above my hips and right at the top of my rear. You could not tell me anything. The whole outfit looked great and that night I felt great.

Celebrities like Kerri Washington and Kelly Rowland have been rocking the bomber jacket.
