Hey curvy girls,
Today, our celebrity fashionation is with American Idol alumni Kimberly Locke. I love the draped detailing on this dress and the rich green color against her complexion.
What do you think, is she working it or is it back to the drawing board?

Hey curvy girls,

It's back to being cold in NYC and boy, do I miss that 70 degree weather we had last weekend. Since it's Friday and for many of us that means payday, I thought we could keep the momentum of suggesting some really great spring dresses for you, if you're not on overload yet.

I asked my fellow blogger friend Patrice who writes a fabulous budget friendly blog called Living Fly On A Dime  (I love the tasty wallet friendly recipes she makes.) to find some budget friendly spring dresses for curvy girls and she agreed.

Check out her picks:

Spring has sprung ladies and there's no better way to embrace the new season than with a flirty frock. Turn every sidewalk into your runway with bold colors, graphic prints and ruffles. The great thing about each of these looks, they're great for work or play. And even better, all of these fly pieces are under $50.

Hey curvy girls,

You all know I love designers that make clothes for size 4 and up. As I was reading my April Essence I came across designer Qristyl Frazier a season 6 Project Runway contestant. I checked out her website and saw that she has some amazing things for curvy girls. She designs for sizes 4-30 and has made clothes for curvy celebrities such as Angie Stone and Queen Latifah.

I love that her designs accentuate and showcase a curvy girls body and shows off the voluptuous curves that people tell us play down.

To see more, visit her website at Qristyl Frazier. She also has a directory with a list of the models that she used.

Check out some of her pieces and tell me what you think:

Thanks Claire!

Hey curvy girls,
Picture: Vogue.com
I think Vogue Italia may be rubbing off on American Vogue. In the April 2010 issue Vogue featured plus size super model Kate Dillon in a feature called, "A Life In Full" they also did an online feature on their website.

Dillon is a size 10  and she gets an ample amount of work as a plus size model. She has been modeling since 1992 and is one of the most recognizable faces in plus size modeling.

Here is an excerpt from the online article written by Sally Singer:
After working for nearly two decades in the fashion industry, she knows better than most that when the clothes don't fit you right, move on: It's the clothes, not you. She describes her professional life thus far as Modeling 1.0, 2.0, and 3.0. Modeling 1.0 began in 1992, when she was seventeen years old, a grunge beach babe from San Diego sought after by the likes of Richard Avedon and Peter Lindbergh for her beautiful face; pals with Kate Moss and the coolest stars of the post-supermodel, heroin-chic era; a size 4 or 6; and in the throes of a "nontrivial eating disorder. When I was skinny, I was really self-conscious. I felt so fat all the time." She recalls being on a shoot with a skinnier model where both felt inadequate. "If I had your face or you had my body, we'd be perfect," she recalls her colleague saying. And then Dillon remembers looking around and thinking, The photographer isn't in shape, the fashion editor doesn't eat and doesn't look happy about it, and the fashion assistant has body issues. Soon after, in 1993, Dillon had an intestinal virus for ten days. "Someone in fashion said, 'You look amazing.' I lost any faith in the belief that being pretty or skinny was better than being anything else."

Hey curvy girls,
I came across a post about a new online store for the curvy girls on Big Beautiful Mess (another curvy girl blog). I love when there are new online stores for us curvy girls because it allows us to have more of a variety in our wardrobes. The new store is called Lucie Lu. As I checked out the site I saw some really good pieces that were not bland or simple. I loved that the clothes had classic silouhettes, but, offered trendy and fun detailing.

I went to the about page and this is what Lucie Lu had to say:

It is my goal to drive my brand with style, rather than size. To make as many original pieces as i can, all the while striving for great fits, wearable looks, not too young, not too old, gotta have them in my closet CLOTHES!

Clothes come in sizes 1X-5X. Here are a few pieces that stood out to me:

What Do You Think Of Tennille's Designs?

Hey Curvy girls,

The past few days have been super sunny and nice in my hometown NYC. I love the beginning of spring because the air is so fresh and people are nicer. Most importantly, I love the spring weather because it gives me a chance to wear one of my favorite trench coats.

Three years ago, I found this really great DKNY ( Donna Karan is one of my favorite designers) bright red trench coats at Century 21 in Brooklyn for $80. When I saw the price tag I couldn't believe they were selling this great quality trench for $80 marked down from about $200.

Once I bought this coat, I never bought another trench for the past three years. This coat was a star on it's own, I needed to wear it everyday. So, today I just wanted to share my favorite trench coat with you.
Since the red trench gets dirty so fast (NYC transit), this year I decided to purchase another one to hold me down until I get the ASOS trench I posted up last week. The Old Navy trench is just a classic double breasted khaki trench, nothing spectacular. I don't shop in Old Navy often, but, when I do, I try to go for the basics, this way I don't have to worry about seeing every Harriet and Jane in the same thing.
I also checked out a few other trench coats on line for those of you who are looking for a new trench coat.
