Hey curvy girls,
I was over on Jezebel's site looking for some good fashion news when I came across this little piece of information about Polish Elle's June magazine spread featuring plus size models from sizes 12-16.Check out Jezebel for more on the story

I think this is one of the best plus size spreads I've seen as far as styling goes. These ladies look happy, trendy, and most importantly confident. The shoot looks like it was a ball of fun. Unlike other magazines who have embraced plus size women, this shoot has no nudity. I'm all for embracing my natural self, but, I'd rather embrace my curves in great clothes that showcase and flatter my figure. I love that the women are wearing fitted body conscious dresses that highlight their assets. This is the kind of spread that speaks to your wallet and makes you want to go out and grab up everything you see here.  Nice Job Polish Elle.

Take a look at the Polish Elle spread and let me hear your rants and raves. Are these ladies doing us plus size curvy girls justice?

Hey curvy girls,
Either love them or hate them. Denim shorts are back this season and celebrities are getting in on the trend. Denim shorts are nothing new for summer, but, this season celebrities like Beyonce have been seen all over town rocking them dressed up and dressed down. Stylish Curves is here to show you how to rock this trend for your curvy frame.

While I am not a fan of everything Beyonce wears, I must say there are a few notes to take away from her denim shorts look. (You don't have to go as short as Beyonce)

1) Pair your denim shorts with a blazer and sexy heels for a great evening look to hang out with the girls.

2) For those warm summer days, an oversized off the shoulder t-shirt is a great option for a more comfortable look. For a little flavor add a fedora to jazz up your look.

3) For accessories, try a pair of hoop earrings with the t-shirt or a multi layered necklace to rock with the blazer.

4) Worried about cellulite stopping you from trying out this trend? I know a few people who have tried Nivea's cellulite cream and they say it works wonders for unsightly cellulite.

Hey curvy girls,
Whenever I wear anything strapless people always ask me how did I get my triple D's sometimes F's into anything strapless? I am well aware it's no picnic to go bra shopping, let alone strapless bra shopping when you have large breasts. The twisting, the turning, and the rolling, it's all a pain in the butt especially when you have to keep pulling the damn bra up every five minutes. Fortunately,I have tried and tested so many strapless bras until I found the right one. Now, I have no problem wearing anything strapless.
This week I stopped by Macy's to upgrade one of my old strapless bras and I came across this Lilyette strapless stay in place specialty bra for full figured women. Lilyette has always been a good friend to the plus size curvy girl so, I did not hesitate to try it on. The great thing about this bra and the most important (in my opinion) is how comfortable the bra was. I wore it for an entire day and I had no problems. It was soft and smooth and my boobs rested in the cups oh so perfectly. It felt like I didn't have a bra on all day. There was no twisting and turning or spilling out. Everything stayed in its place. The band width was thick enough to cover up and support my back and eliminate my mild case of back fat.
Here are a few of my tips for finding the right strapless bra for those plus size curvy girls who have large breasts.

1) You must try, try, try. One bra does not fit all cup sizes. I recommend going to the store when they first open to give yourself time to search and try on and to enlist the help of sales people.

2) In my opinion the best strapless bras are the push up styles. Try on a few different brands to make sure that the  push up style isn't too severe and your breast look like they are on your neck.

3) Go for a thick band. A thicker band provides back support as well as prevents the band from rolling down.

4) Practice jumping up and down in the bra to test if your breast will fall out (Got this tip from an old Cosby show episode).  If  the bra is too loose you might need a smaller band size. The bra should be slightly tight on the first row of hooks. As you continue to wear the bra, the band will loosen up and then you can graduate to the next row of hooks for tightness.

5) Try a seamless bra for a smoother look under your clothes.

These are my picks for some of the best strapless bras that go up to a size G

Hey curvy girls,
Last night Queen Latifah and Toccara Jones was spotted at the premiere of Just Wright starring Queen Latifah and Common.  In my eyes the queen can do no wrong. She truly knows how to dress her body. I love the belted over sized shirt dress with those amazingly hot ankle boots. It makes Queen look young and stylish.

Also spotted, was a newly slimmer Toccara (ANTM fame) who looked great in a white spaghetti strap dress. I wished she would have added a statement necklace or earrings to jazz up the look. Nonetheless, she looks great.

Now, you guys vote on their looks. Are they Working It or is it Back To The Drawing Board?

Hey curvy girls,
The June cover of Glamour with plus size model Crystal Renn has been revealed and it is spectacular. Curvy girls are making history in 2010. Crystal Renn looks awesome next to slim models Brooklyn Decker and Alessandra Ambrosio. For more check out Glamour

I love that they did not put her in a one piece and they took it easy on the airbrushing, still showing Crystal's curvy body. If you are a plus size curvy girl still covering up your beautiful body, then take a look at these pics and realize that you can be plus size and curvy and look just as good as the skinny minnie's.

Just looking at this makes me want to pump my favorite song from Diana Ross, "I'm Coming Out."

"I'm coming out, I want the world to know, got to let it show, I'm coming out."

Okay, check it out.

Hey curvy girls,

A few months ago I told you guys about the H&M Garden Collection that came out in March. Before the collection hit stores, I was given the opportunity to take a sneak peak at the collection and when I did, I immediately became obsessed with this organic silk anorak. It was all I could think about. Of course they had tons of other great things from that collection, but, my eye was just glued to the anorak. I used to be scared of jackets with a bunch of bells and whistles and large pockets because I thought it would make me look bigger, but, after I started accepting my body for the greatness that it is, I pretty much will wear just about anything to show curvy girls can wear what the skinny girls wear too.

One thing you will learn about me as you continue to follow this blog is that I love pieces that standout on their own. I love layering pieces too, but, when a piece stands out on it's own, it just compliments everything else in your wardrobe effortlessly.
Since the weather was nice on Friday and it was casual Friday at the office, I thought it would be the perfect time to rock my anorak. I decided to wear the jean dress and heart belt I bought from ReDress NYC (still available in store). This dress is truly comfortable and forgiving in the stomach area. I threw it back on Saturday to combat the 85 degree weather we got in NYC. The necklace is from LOGO by Lori Goldstein (available at QVC) and the shoes are from Michael Kors.

Hey curvy girls,
I spotted singer Estelle in this beautiful ruffled one shoulder purple dress. What's better than a dress in a standout color with a ruffled neckline to bring fashionable drama to any event. I think the look could have been better if she had a different shoe. It's something about those snakeskin shoes that doesn't really compliment the dress. However, I thought this was a cute look , so, of course, I had to hook my curvy girls up and recreate Estelle's look just for you.

Hey curvy girls,
We all love ourselves a pair of Z. Cavaricci jeans for their trendy yet comfortable fit. Well, they have received a makeover and Stylish Curves likes it. The infamous brand has come out with their very own couture line, Z. Cavaricci Couture for the young trendsetter. Check out their look book at http://zcav2010.com/. The line is available at select Torrid stores nationwide and on Torrid.com. I love the edginess of the pieces but, when I think couture, I think structure and tailored silhouettes, not sure if I am seeing that here, however, the new line does look appealing and Crystal Renn is working it.

Hey curvy girls,
A few weeks ago, I was contacted by a company called RX Undies to try a pair of their thong underwear.  Before receiving the underwear, I educated myself on RX Undies just to see what they were all about. I found that they are designed by two women who are a doctor and an engineer. Go figure!

According to their press release:
RX Undies are designed with a focus on comfort. They come up high enough in the front to keep you comfortably and completely covered, but stay discreetly tucked away with even low rise pants. RX Undies have a V-shape in the back so that they stay concealed within your clothing, even when you sit down. In addition, they have a longer lining that extends up higher in the front; this allows for greater comfort and keeps your anatomy fully covered. Not only does their design make RX Undies more comfortable, but it makes them more hygienic as well.

My Review:
There are two reasons RX Undies peaked my interest (1) They are made from organic fabrics and (2) they come in regular clothing sizes from 2-20.
After wearing the thongs with a pair of my skinny jeans, I had to admit that they were truly comfortable. The material was soft, light, and didn't irritate my skin. It was like I wasn't wearing anything. Most importantly the coverage was great. They were not like your normal slim jim thongs that sometimes disappear or move when you move. It was nice to wear a pair of thongs that stayed in its place and wasn't droopy. The width and fit of the thong eliminated the embarrassing plumber butt. What I didn't like was that the thong had no style. They were plain white. This was a disappointment because for women, they should know that we like our intimates in pretty colors and prints. I requested the thongs in my true pant size and they fit like a glove. Personally, I can't wait to see the direction this company heads in, because, I would like to see more from them.

What do you guys think about this new brand of underwear?
