Hey curvy girls,
After coming back home from the Lane Bryant conference I was so tired. I was not ready for work the next day. Normally I dress professionally chic for the office, but, I just couldn't bring myself to get all dolled up. Whenever I get that way, I reach for a pair of jeans a cool top, tons of accessories (my favorite) and some bright heels. So I did casual Friday on Monday (my boss was cool about it). I also had the chance to wear my new slim fit pants and gold cuff gifted to me from Loft (formerly Ann Taylor Loft). They are so soft and comfortable. The only thing I did not like was that they came below my waist and I normally wear my pants at the waist to hold in my baby hero (my stomach).
I bought this cardigan last year (you might remember it here) I love it because of the side pockets and that it doesn't have any buttons, so, I can leave it open or wrap a belt around it. You all know that I love mixing colors, so, I especially like how the dark blue looked against all the bright colors in the top. In this outfit I was able to get through the day comfortably and I even felt a little cute in it. Like I said, I was just chilling.
SC is giving away a free pair of these jeans. Stay tuned for contest info this week.

Yesterday SC received a question from reader Mica asking this:
I'm looking for a jumpsuit for a birthday party I will be attending next week. I wear about a 14-16, can you offer some suggestions on site I may find one?
This jumpsuit is from the ShapeFX brand. They design their clothes with shapewear already built in. Not sure if you need this for day or evening Mica, but, if it is for evening I suggest going for gold accessories. Try a cocktail ring or cuff bracelet to add a little flavor to your look. Killer heels are key to making a jumpsuit standout, so, don't be afraid to try something funky like zebra print or even a bright colored heel.
SC hooked you up with some more options that are for an evening or casual party. Hope these options are helpful.

Well Mica, SC has got you covered. I found this really cool jumpsuit at Newport News that is sure to turn heads at the birthday party (it's only $49). What's great about this jumpsuit are the details. It has the pleated harem pant bottom, structured shoulder, and ruched waist (SC likes ruching at the waist), which takes it a step up from being a regular black jumpsuit.

Hey curvy girls,
There is so much to talk about from the Lane Bryant Blogger Conference that I have to break up the post in a few parts. The first part is this quick video I made from the conference. Finally, I got my little 7.0 Kodak to work somewhat right. Now, you can actually see me this time. The video consists of a few clips from shopping at the Easton LB store to arriving at the LB headquarters and meeting the VP of Marketing.
Stay tuned for more posts about the conference today.
Please Note: Lane Bryant paid for my travel, room, and meals for 3 days and 2 nights. As a participant of the conference, I received a Lane Bryant outfit which included intimates from their Cacique line. I was also treated to a photo shoot complete with hair and makeup.

Hey curvy girls,
I know it has been awhile since I posted, so, I wanted to share with you guys one of my outfits that I wore to the conference yesterday. I have a full write up coming about the conference slated to be posted next week. I had such a ball being treated like a princess for the day. All the bloggers went to the Easton Lane Bryant store in Ohio to pick out our outfits for a photo shoot. I wasn't sure what to wear so, I decided to rock this chambray denim dress with my faux snakeskin heels. I love, love, this dress. It was super comfortable.
The managers at the LB Easton store was so nice and friendly. That's two of the managers at the counter bagging up my goodies.
Enjoy your weekend!
Please note: In accordance with FCC regulations Lane Bryant is providing my travel and accommodations, along with complimentary clothing as part of my participation in this conference. As a participant in this conference I am committed, along with Lane Bryant, to full disclosure pursuant to FTC Guidelines.

Hey curvy girls:
Today is the first day of June and I am super excited because summer is on its way. I can't wait to go to the summer barbecues and hearWill Smith and Jazzy Fresh's Summertime theme song blasting from the speakers. I am also happy to announce that this month marks the 1 year anniversary for Stylish Curves. June 15th was the first blog post that I had written and sent out to all of my family and friends. You can check it out here. Boy, how time passes. I am truly glad to still be around a year later and I have you all to thank for that. I will be doing giveaways this month in honor of SC's anniversary, so, stay tuned.
There were a few stylish curvy celebrities for the month of May, Jennifer Hudson, Amber Riley, etc. I think that Jessica Simpson deserves May's Most Stylish Curvy Celebrity title for her ability to take her looks from the girl next door to a show stopping Hollywood glam goddess. SC thinks these were Jessica Simpson's best looks for the month of May.
Tell us, does she deserve the title? VOTE!

Hey curvy girls:
You all saw Crystal Renn walk in the Chanel St. Tropez show and probably thought to yourself, she's lost a lot of weight. Did she do so for the Chanel show? Well, Crystal's agent satisfies our curiosity.
According to People.com:
Not so, says Renn’s agent. “She is not trying to lose weight at all,” her Ford Models agent tells PEOPLE. “She fluctuates between a 10 and a 14.” At the moment, she seems to be on the lower end of that range, in part, her agent says, because she’s been so active recently.
“She went hiking in Patagonia for three weeks over the holidays and she firmed up and got a little smaller,” he says. “She has also been traveling like crazy and tends to be smaller when that happens.”
Do you feel there needed to be an explanation for her weight loss?

Hey curvy girls, Looks like Lane Bryant has a sense of humor. According to Stylelist Lane Bryant posted a video on their Inside Curve Blog with a skeleton in lingerie gawking at her reflection. According to Lane Bryant's blog this video was not created by them, but, by Landline TV. It is to be considered a humorous response to the FOX and NBC networks for censoring their sexy lingerie ad with curvy model Ashley Graham.
Although the video is hilarious, do you think the video works against or works for the acceptance of beauty in all sizes?

Hey curvy girls,
Last week SC reader Tashua was inspired by the Loft (formerly known as Ann Taylor Loft) outfit I posted and sent in a picture of her recreation of the look. Check it out.
Great job Tashua, you look super cute and ready to show your office who's boss. I am loving that ruffle top.

Hey curvy girls,
I had been searching for a cute denim jacket to wear with a few of my prim and proper dresses. I wanted to add a youthful look to them. I know I could have bought an ordinary cropped denim jacket, but, I wanted something with more pizazz. The other day, I scored this great denim military jacket at the GAP. It was the last one in an XL and I knew it was meant for me. I thought I was going to lose it because I spotted another curvy girl watching it too. We circled around the t-stand that it was hanging on like two lions in the jungle ready to fight. I knew I had to pounce on it before she could, so, I went in for the kill and snatched it up and walked away. I didn't want to look back because I knew she was probably rolling her eyes at me, but, I didn't care.
After walking away with the jacket, I thought to myself, damn, this better fit. Luckily, it did. To top off my score of this military jacket, I remembered I had one of those new coupons from the GAP where you get 40% off one full price item every Wednesday. I was filled with glee when I plunked down my jacket on the counter and handed the cashier the coupon and saw the price of the jacket lower from $79.50 to $47.70. Score!
What I'm Wearing
Dress: Banana Republic
Jacket: GAP
Shoes: Nine West
Necklace: H&M
Beat up Bag: DKNY

Hey curvy girls,
Can't believe it's Wednesday already. I have so much work to do at the office that I've been staying super late. Working for a hedge fund is no joke. At least when my workday is over I have this blog to look forward to. This week I got a little surprise in the mail (not really). Last week I ordered the Kelsi Dagger Juno sandals from Piperlime who was offering 20% off sandals and I was so excited to wear them.
I was a little mad with Loft when they stopped carrying size 16's in the store (due to the recession). However, you can get the 16's and 18's on their website. As curvy girls we have to support those stores that carry above a size 12 or 14 so they can start to send the larger sizes back to the store and we can stop losing our money in shipping. This is why I am also a fan of Banana Republic who carry's size 16's and Tall online. Their tops are also generously cut for us plus size curvy girls with a little extra something something at the top. If they don't see us buying in the store then we will have no other choice but to continue shopping online, which sometimes is a hassle especially when you have to pay to return.
Sorry for the super long post, but, I just wanted to share a few of my new goodies with you.
Also, Kelsi Dagger is having AN ULTIMATE FAN fan contest on their Facebook page. Upload a picture of you in your favorite pair of KD shoes and you will be entered to win not one but three pairs of Kelsi Dagger shoes. For more info on the contest go HERE.
*Please Note: I have not been paid to promote any of these products. Nor were they given to me by any of the brands. I spent my hard earned money on everything. I am just a real consumer giving my real and honest opinion on the products I love.
Are any of you Loft fans? What do you think about their clothes?

Lately my social calendar has been nonexistent. Since I am a corporate working girl by day, I decided to wear my KD's with one of my work outfits that I got from one of my fave stores Loft.
Curvy girls, do not sleep on Loft! I'm serious. They are one of the few chain retail stores that carry up to a size 18 and XXL in misses and a size 16 and XL in petites. I became a fan of their clothes after graduating college in 2003 because I needed some fun young looking clothes for work. You don't have to necessarily go to them for edgy pieces, but, you can find some really cute basic pieces that include trendy dresses, skirts, and tops. Which can easily be paired with your edgy looking pieces. The cuts are true to size and they truly offer some great girlie stuff (if that's your style). Lately I have been obsessed with their white boyfriend blazer (shown above). I wore it so much that I had to retire it to the cleaners because it was beginning to look yellow. This entire outfit, jacket, top, and skirt is all from the Loft (you can click on the links to purchase). I am in love with the ikat print skirt which will probably be one of my go to pieces for the summer. Hey curvy girls,
Today's skinny girl fashion for curvy bodies is brought to you by former Disney star Hillary Duff.
We love Hillary Duff for her youthful and simple chic looks. If you're looking for a cute and cool look to beat the summer heat, then, this outfit is perfect. So many curvy girls are afraid of skinny jeans and probably can't even fathom wearing a pair of white ones (Yikes!) unless we had the body of a model or an actress like Duff. Well, you know SC doesn't believe in that. I believe plus size curvy girls can wear just as many styles and trends as any slim person. So, go ahead try you a pair of white skinny jeans, throw on your highest heels (or flats) and strut your curves this summer.

Hey curvy girls,
Yesterday was a beautiful day in Brooklyn. I just felt super girlie and decided to breakout my blue and white polka dot dress. I love this dress because the color is so bright and springy and I love how the silhouette flatters my shape. I love the pockets too. It also gave me the chance to wear my new strapless bra I told you about (old post). It held the the triple D's up very nicely. As a curvy girl, I have never been afraid of strapless anything. It's one of my favorite styles to wear along with a halter. I wanted to keep the bright colors going, so, I decided to wear a yellow pearl necklace because I loved how the colors looked together.

Belt: Redress NYC
Necklaces:Claires
Bracelet:Vintage
Shoes: Banana Republic

Hey curvy girls,
So far this month has been a great style week for both Jennifer Hudson and Queen Latifah. Our fellow curvy girls were out promoting both of their movies. If you haven't heard already Jennifer Hudson will be playing Winnie Mandela in a biopic and Queen Latifah's movie Just Wright hit theaters this weekend. The newly slimmer stars have really been embracing their smaller frames and I thought it would be cute to see who you guys think was the most stylish.
Ready, Set, Vote!
