Hey curvy girls all over the world,
When it comes to personal style sometimes our brains are trained to always reach for the same looks. I for one can attest to that. Lately, I have been thinking of new ways to get the most out of my wardrobe. As a serious magazine reader, I have such an admiration for Lucky magazine's desire to get their readers to think outside their personal style box when it comes to clothes. In the pages of Lucky mag you will see them pair a military jacket with a shift dress or a pencil skirt just to give you new ideas on how to be a little more creative with your wardrobe. One of my personal favorite bloggers Big Beautyful Mess engaged in a challenge where she recreated 30 looks from a feature in Lucky magazine where they take a few pieces and mix and match them to give you a months worth of outfits.

You've all seen this ikat print skirt before, remember I wore it with a white blazer. Well, since then I haven't worn this skirt that much and decided to dust it off. I wanted to give it a totally different look. To think outside my personal style box I remixed the skirt with this utility vest that I scored for only $14.99 at New York & Company. I don't shop there much unless it's for accessories or when they're having their 50% off everything sale, but, this vest was well worth the price. I added a wide width belt to define my waist due to the bulkiness of the vest. Overall, I was pleased with the outcome and vow to think outside the box a little more when it comes to evolving my personal style.
What I'm wearing
Skirt- Loft
Vest- NY&C
Belt- NY&C
Shoes- Kelsi Dagger
Earrings- Forever21

Hey curvy girls all over the world,
Crystal Renn sits down with the Today show to explain why she looked so thin in those fashion for passion photos and why she has been losing weight. I can't say that she needs to explain herself to anyone, but, I am glad she did. I get the feeling she may still be struggling with body issues, but, doesn't that come with the modeling territory? However, she does stand firm on wanting to present a healthy body image.

What are your thoughts on her explanation?
Hey curvy girls all over the world,

Hey curvy girls all over the world,
Today's stylish curves of the day is Ivory from LA. I spotted Ivory over on The Fashion Bomb's website after SC reader Asha tweeted me to take a look at The Bombshell of the day. (Sorry, I had to jack the bombshell of the day FB but she was just too fly of a curvy girl to pass up). After checking out Ivy's style, I knew I had to have her on Stylish Curves, so, since I am not shy, I immediately contacted her and asked her to send in her pics.

Checkout Ivy's fashion resume
Here's how Ivory says she embraces her curves:
I embrace my curves by wearing clothes that make me feel good. I strongly believe in that saying "When you look good, you feel good." Being curvy/thick/fat/voluptuous, whatever you may call it has it's fashion challenges, but I LOVE the challenge. I love when people do a double take and are "surprised" on how "well I dress". I love being curvy and honestly wouldn't trade it for anything else...
I love how Ivory embraces her curves with body con dresses. Most importantly she wears her clothes with confidence and her spirit reads, I love my body. With her bright smile Ivy wears her curves beautifully.

For more great looks, checkout Ivory on The Fashion Bomb

Thanks for submitting Ivory!

If you would like to be considered for Stylish Curves of the day, send 1-3 pics of yourself in your most stylish outfits to stylishcurves@gmail.com. Please include your name, location, and a brief description on how you embrace your curves.

Hey curvy girls all over the world,
During my daily Internet cruise I found a cute little site called Fushia Love that caters to the plus size curvy girl . The site offers trendy everyday and evening pieces in sizes 1X-3X as well as in sizes 14W-24W. You can expect to find cute little summer dresses, skirts, and colored skinny jeans. They even offer an impressive range of accessories too. What I like about this site so far is their choice of clothing. They're offering colorful prints, classic and trendy silhouttes, and the clothes seem young and fun without looking childish.

As a curvy girl I think that it's always great to have a new place to shop for clothes because it adds variety to your wardrobe. I love their tag line which reads "Fabulosity For The Plus Sized World"

According to the site Fushia Love is:
As a small company, we are committed to bring the vision of fabulousity to the plus size world of fashion. By understanding the needs of our customers in this forever changing time, we aim to bring an excitement to the full figured woman. Our clothes will put the omph back into sexy and erase the stigma of how a woman with curves should look. With the average woman in mind, Fushia Love wants to give you everything you’ve been longing for….Love
Checkout a few of their pieces. You can also go to FushiaLove to purchase.

Hey curvy girls all over the world,
As Fall collections begin to fill stores next month, why not get a head start on shopping for a few biker chic pieces. Every girl has a little bad ass in them and with these pieces you can let your inner bad girl shine. One of the main ingredients in a biker chic look are zippers. Try a cropped zippered vest or jacket in black or in light blue denim. A pair of fitted motorcycle jeans (like NY&C moto jegging, pictured above) that makes your derriere look great is a true biker chick essential. To finish off your look go for a pair of multi layered silver earrings and a pair of peep toe booties. Oh, don't forget a pair of cool black shades to solidify how cool and bad ass you are.

Hey curvy girls all over the world,
Last week I was invited to preview a new jean line called Curve Appeal. As a curvy girl I am always looking for a great pair of jeans, as if I don't have enough already. I decided to go and checkout this new jean line called Curve Appeal to see what they had to offer a curvy girl. To my surprise, the jeans are designed to enhance your curves. Say what, this is a jean company not looking to make your curves smaller or disappear? I was intrigued.

Curve Appeal Says:
The jeans have a built in shapewear that includes front panels to slim the waist and a built-in bottom booster to lift and sculpt. They are the first to bring this age-defying and body defying technology to market. The jeans are offered in a variety of washed and in three core  silhouettes which are Enchanting Skinny, Captivating Boot Cut, and Gorgeous Straight Leg. They retail for about $88 and go up to a size 16.

SC's Two Cents:
I was a little disappointed that the jeans only stopped at a size 16. With a name like Curve Appeal, why wouldn't you appeal to the plus size curvy girls? Nevertheless, they are appealing to curvy girls above a size 12, so, kudos to them for that. You know, I had to ask if they were going to add sizes above a 16, and the answer was yes. They are hoping to have larger sizes by Fall 2011. As for the fit, they looked great on the model and even gave her a little booty. I also liked that the jeans did not come up all the way to your breast like "Not Your Daughters Jeans" and they were premium stretch with recovery. This way, after a few wears the jeans will go back to it's original shape and not become droopy or baggy like some of Old Navy's jeans. The overall look of the jeans were basic yet modern due to the back pocket crystal embellishments. The built in shapewear didn't look bulky or overly restrictive.

If you are a curvy girl who likes her denim classic but well fitted, then you may want to try these out.

The Curve Appeal line will be in stores next month. I have ordered a pair courtesy of Curve Appeal, so check back next month for another review.

Hey curvy girls all over the world,
Lately, I have been on the search for some vintage pieces. Last month I scored this awesome green and white polka dot peplum jacket from ReDress NYC in Brooklyn and I am so in love with it. I have to take it to the cleaners to get the bust taken in so I can wear it. Ever since I found that piece, my fashion appetite has been craving more vintage pieces.

As I was cruising the internet, I came across this new blog called Fierce 101 and they highlighted this boutique called LA Vintage. An online vintage shop that actually has a section of vintage pieces to fit curvy girls. I checked out the site and saw so many amazing things, even a similar green and white polka dot jacket like the one I got from ReDress. What's even more amazing is the prices. Right now they are having a sale and many items are under $40. Sizes range anywhere from a L-3X. You can even shop by era. Whether you want a 50's or a 70's look, they have you covered.

They also have an awesome shoe collection.

Hey curvy girls all over the world,
Good news for all you young fashionista's who wished Lane Bryant would cater to the junior plus size community. Well, your prayers have been answered. On July 23rd Lane Bryant will release pieces from their Loop 18 line that caters to the young stylish curvy girls to select retail locations. Since age aint nothing but a number, some of us older stylish curvy girls can rock the Loop 18 line too.

The line offers custom-fit fashion for juniors, sizes 13-27.
Don't want to wait until July 23rd, well, Sonsi.com is giving you an exclusive preview of the new line, which is available for purchase right now at Sonsi.com.

Ok, so there are no original designs here. Many of the pieces are your typical basics. You know, tees, jeans, and a few dresses and cropped jackets. Also, there is an abundance of trendy prints like plaid, animal, and graphic prints. However, the line does show some promise, so, I will give it a chance and see what it develops into. You have to admit, this is a step in the right direction for Lane Bryant.

In the mean time here are a few pieces that are available on Sonsi.com right now.

What are your thoughts on the new line? Let's discuss!

Hey curvy girls all over the world,
Have you ever heard of Stella & Dot jewelry? Well, if not, be prepared to become addicted to their site. I first found out about Stella & Dot when I saw Michelle from Venus Vision wearing this awesome green charm necklace at the Lane Bryant conference. After staring at it for about 2 min, I asked her where she got it from and she gave me a Stella & Dot catalog that was filled with tons of amazing pieces.
I received these fabulous Stella & Dot earrings as a gift. They are bold and make a statement just how I like my jewelry. When I opened them, I swear they were gleaming from the box. The earrings had a nice weight to them and the green stones were sparkling. They even came with care instructions. You will definitely see these gorgeous earrings in a few OOTD posts.

Check out a few of their pieces

If you like what you see, just for Stylish Curves readers you will receive 15% off your purchase. All you have to do is go to Michelle's Stella & Dot website at http://stelladot.com/sites/michellecantrell
pick out what you would like to order, and send her an email (cantrell.michelle@gmail.com) telling her the products you would like to order. She will follow up with you via a phone call (the same day) to take your payment over the phone.
