STYLISH CURVES HITS UP THE ONE STOP PLUS PHOTO SHOOT

Hey curvy girls all over the world,
This month Stylish Curves stopped by the One Stop Plus photo shoot to see what they had in store for the 2010 Fall season. This Fall season OSP is creating looks that are more fashionable with a few trendy pieces. To translate this look for their customer, OSP enlisted the help of two gorgeous plus size models, Marquita Pring from V Magazine's first plus size issue and Camilla Hansen who starred in OSP's commercials (Neither of them looked plus at all, but, that's how the modeling industry is.). I had a chance to talk to OSP's E-shop Manager Sora Golob. Checkout what she had to say about the Fall Collection and the photo shoot.

 Once I arrived at the shoot, I decided to chat it up with the models to get their thoughts on the clothes. I don't shop at OSP, so, I wanted to get the models opinions of their clothes. Both Marquita and Camilla   said the clothes were very cute and that they would incorporate it in their daily wardrobes. Camilla also said she has a few things from past shoots with OSP that she loves. Go figure! I always thought OSP was for the more mature women who wanted to cover up her curvy body. Hearing the good review from the models themselves definitely made me want to give OSP a second look.

I'm such a groupie, I had to get a pic with the stunning Marquita Pring.

After chatting with the models I decided to be nosy and checkout the stylists corner to see what looks they pulled together for the shoot. This is some of the accessories the stylist brought to the shoot.

Now, it's back to business. The stylist is prepping Camilla for the first look of the day

I tried to sneak a picture of  Camilla and just like a model she caught me and struck a pose for my camera.

Final look

The photo shoot ran into overtime so I was not able to get pictures of the rest of the looks, but, I thought the military jacket was super cute. Overall, SC had a great time at the photo shoot.

THE RETURN OF THE POINTY TOE FLATS

I am the kind of girl who loves her heels everyday of the week and anytime of the day. However, I do believe in giving my feet a break by rocking a pair of fierce flats. Preferably embellished or printed flats. I have always loved pointy toe flats opposed to round toe ballerina flats because I think they look phenomenal with a pair of trousers or jeans while offering a polished look. That's why I am so happy to see them making a comeback this Fall season. As with any trend they never completely went away, but, now they are available in an assortment of colors and prints with spicy embellishments like brooches, studs, and bows.

RISING STYLE STAR: HAYLEY HASSELHOFF

SC loves nothing more than a curvy girl who embraces her body and shows off her curves ever so stylishly. Currently we are on the fashion trail of ABC Family's "Huge" star, Hayley Hasselhoff. Some of you may know her as the daughter of Baywatch alum David Hasselhoff. Hayley is a young beauty with beautiful golden blonde hair and warm light eyes. We love Hayley's style for its youthfulness and chicness. Hayley is not afraid to take on the trends and show that curvy girls have style too. We adore Hayley's choices of embellished headbands, body con dresses, and bold jewelry. Whenever she is on the red carpet she exudes confidence.

As her acting career grows we can't wait to see what other red carpet looks this budding style star will come up with next.

MICHAEL KORS FOR CURVES

Alissa,

Where do you find Michael Kors in sizes that will fit your curvy body? I have not been able to find any Michael Kors items above a size 14. But now that in the past year I have gained some weight (sz 14 to sz 18, most of which has attached itself to my stomach, butt, and thighs), Michael Kors clothing has slowly filtered out of my wardrobe. I adore his dresses and tops and would love to know how I can score some pieces to fit the me that I am now, not last year's size.

Would you mind sharing any tips you might have?

Krystyna, above are a few styles from Michael Kors ready to wear line, Michael Michael Kors. The line carries plus sizes 1X- 3X and 14W-24W. You can also find Michael's plus size styles in just about all of the major department stores and on his website Michael Kors. One of the great things about MK's line is that he is offering the same styles in straight sizes in plus sizes.
For those of you who are new to my blog, you must know that I am a super fan of 3 designers. Michael Kors, Donna Karan, and Yves Saint Laurent. These designers have impeccable cuts and their designs are the epitome of classic style. Michael Kors has been doing his plus size line for a few years now and each year the designs get better. I just wish he would advertise his plus line a little more so that other plus size women can get to know him more.

THE NEXT CURVY GIRL TO WATCH IS RAVEN GOODWIN

You may remember her as the young Monique in Phat Girlz or you may have watched her comedic skills on the Disney channel's Good Luck Charlie, but, what you may not know is that  Raven Goodwin has been building a pretty impressive resume with her acting skills since the age of 4. Raven is one of the co-stars of ABC Family's hit show Huge. She plays Becca Huffstaffer, an overweight teen who is back at fat camp for a second time after  losing 26 pounds the first year, Becca gained it all back and is looking to lose it again.

Goodwin is one of those young stars that you see from time time on a few of your favorite shows, but, as we all know it only takes one super hit show to catapult anyone into stardom and I think Huge is Raven's  launching pad.  Raven has appeared on hit shows like 30 Rock, Everybody Hates Chris, and Malcolm In The Middle. She also was a co-star on the Nickelodeon show Just Jordan and recently appeared on an episode of Tyler Perry's Meet the Brown's.

Raven Goodwin is on my radar because I think she is one of very few young actresses who actually has talent. I love the confidence she possesses and I love the body of work she is creating. Yes, she does resemble Glee star Amber Riley just a little bit. They could be distant cousins. However, Raven is truly putting in the work to be the next hot young actress and I am already a fan.

YOUNG FAT AND FABULOUS TAKES OVER MTV AND BECOMES THEIR FIRST TWITTER JOCKEY

In a world where you have to be thin to be in, one young, fat, and fabulous girl has won the hearts of MTV viewers across the world. At 11:01 PM on Sunday August 8, 2010 fashion blogger Gabi Gregg was announced as MTV's 1st twitter jockey. The new position will make her the face of MTV on twitter as well as send her to amazing events where she gets to interview celebrities. Gabi beat out 20 finalists for this position. All the finalists had to go through weeks of fun challenges to test their social media skills and MTV relied on twitter votes to narrow down the finalists from 20 to 5. With the support of her fans Gabi made it to the top five.

Last nights show on MTV was the final round for the remaining five contestants who were all hoping to win the $100,000 a year gig, plus a chance to go down in history as MTV's first ever Twitter Jockey. Throughout the show you could see that Gabi was the favorite because once all the votes were counted she always ended up being number one. After each commercial break a contestant was eliminated until there were the final two. Which was blogger and Justin Beiber look alike Dannielle and of course Gabi.

Within just a few moments, Sway, an MTV veteran announced Gabi Gregg as the new MTV twitter jockey and Gabi was so excited and thankful to her followers and fans. So, what does this mean for Gabi now? It means a world of opportunity is at her feet. We've seen MTV jockeys move on to their own radio shows as well as TV shows. On PIX 11 news this morning Gabi announced that her first job will be to cover the VMA's. With Gabi's great sense of fashion and body confidence I think she will be inspiring a myriad of young women to finally start loving their bodies and not bashing them. She has a strong voice in social media, so, I expect nothing but great things from her.

I had a summer social cocktail party to go to this week and I chose to rock this water colored flower print dress I got from ASOS. I was immediately attracted to it because of all the pretty bright colors. When I got the invite to the party, I just knew this dress was the perfect choice for the event. It has a pleated tulip style bottom with a criss cross sweetheart neckline. I felt super girlie in it.

STYLISH CURVY GIRL OF THE DAY: TOCCARA JONES

Hey curvy girl's all over the world,

Stylish curvy girl of the day is the the beautiful Toccara Jones. The former ANTM contestant's career has been keeping her busy lately. She showed up at the Essence offices looking sweet and simple in a cute white geometric print dress and nude peep toe pumps. If you have been keeping up with this beauty then you've noticed her new look. I am loving the new hair. I think the long and wavy style works well with her features and gives her a romantic look.

Clothing brand Evans sure knows how to make a statement with just one photo. For their upcoming new collection they put five of the flyest supermodels together to showcase their collection. When you see photos like this, it makes you wonder why the fashion and publishing industry's can't seem to completely come full circle with the fact that having a voluptuous body is a good thing and curvy models can sell and look just as good in campaigns as their straight size competitor's.

In this photo I see five gorgeous women who have presence and style.

MONIF C'S HOT 2010 FALL COLLECTION

Monif C. does it again. The 2010 Fall collection is hotter than ever. Plus size super model Fluvia Lacerda does a dazzling job of showcasing Monif's newest collection which is now available to purchase. It looks like Monif is playing with prints and colors this Fall season. The collection is definitely pushing the envelope for curvy girls with animal print jumpsuits and body con dresses. Monif is one of the few plus size designers who creates clothes that highlight as well as flatter the curvy woman. This collection is edgy, sexy, and alluring with its bold come hither looks. You will see some old favorites like the "Nelli" and "Marilyn" ruched dress in deep rich reds and purple's as well as some new comers like the Naomi high shoulder leopard print dress.

This is the kind of plus size collection that is for curvy girl's who are confident and comfortable in their body and are not afraid to be fashion forward.

AUSTRALIAN COSMO'S SISTERS IN STYLE MAGAZINE SPREAD

Australian Cosmo does a spread with plus models Laura and Courtney Wells. Courtney is a size 10 and Laura is a size 14. The girls are showcased wearing current trends all by the same designers.

I love this editorial because the clothing isn't safe. It has color, a variety of shapes, and all the looks are filled with energy.
