Plus Size model Crystal Renn snags another bona fide star making campaign and this time it's Mr. Jimmy Choo. The controversial plus size model is the face of Jimmy Choo's Spring 2011 campaign and she looks amazing as usual. Along with Chanel and Jean Paul Gaultier, Jimmy Choo is a big time ad campaign that straight size models can only dream to achieve. Despite what we may think about her being considered a plus size model, the girl has proven time and time again that she can model with the best of them.

Carmakoma does it again. They are just plus size fashion  heart stealer's. The Spring 2011 collection has a resort kind of feel for the jet setting plus size fashionista. SC loves the collections neutral palette of grays, whites, beige, and powder blue. The collection offers a medley of feminine girlie pieces like the chiffon polka dot ruffled dresses and skirt. Although the designs this season have a brighter side, Carmakoma still manages to keep their rockstar edge with black body con dresses and skirts with zippered and stud embellishments. Draped dresses, tops, and pants were all the rage last season and Carmakoma is bringing them back for the curvy girls. We love the over sized blazer and genie pants that seem to be designed to work with the curvy girls figure instead of against it.
This collection has a fresh feel that makes us wish it was spring time already.

Anyone who’s anyone in the makeup world, from the pro artist to the makeup geek, knows about Makeup Forever and their fabulous color intense products. Well in following true to form, they’ve launched a New Collection of Lip Gloss cleverly named Lab Shine.

They’ve wowed us again with 35 color rich, super fabulous hues that range from the seasons popular Bordeaux's and purples (even a black shade: Chrome Onyx Metal Collection - M0) to the always trendy pinks, reds, and tangerines. They come in three finishes, Diamond, Star and METAL!!! Oh yeah!!!!

The Diamond Collection is comprised of 12 shimmery glittery shades that are made with the brands uber fabulous diamond powder. If you’ve never tried their diamond powders, make sure they are on your must have list because those little pots pack a punch. These are the more subtle colors of the collection.

The Star Collection has 14 shades of opalesque pearlescent goodness. They are made with the Star Powders!!! (Another must have)

My fave collection, The Metal Collection, is just sheer ROCK STAR GENIUS (that means awesomeness in my language). It only has 9 shades but the mix of Makeup Forever Metal Powders gives these full coverage glosses an intense, chrome finish!!!!!!

Can you stand to hear more???

According to Sephora: This gloss combines camelina oil and mother-of-pearl particles that reflect light to create incredible shine that adds volume to the lips. Formulated with hyaluronic acid, it provides intense hydration with a non-sticky texture for a noticeably moisturized pout. Its subtle apricot fragrance also adds a sweet scent to your lips.

You can find them on www.sephora.com. They are scheduled to appear in stores in February. Retail cost :$18 a tube.

Hey curvy girls all over the world,

Kicking of Stylish Curves of the day for the new year is Britanny from the blog Pockets and Bows. SC came across Brittany's personal style blog awhile ago and became quite smitten with her eclectic style and just knew we had to share her with you guys. We like Brittany's style because it's trendy and playful. Brittany is not afraid to show off her curves in prints, bright colors, and unconventional shapes.

SC asked Brittany how does she embrace her curves and here is what she had to say:
"I embrace my curves by wearing what I like, not what people think I should wear. I never let my size keep me from wearing styles that I love! Of course you should make sure that you are wearing clothes that are appropriate for you body type and shape however, my philosophy is that if you wear what you love and with confidence, then others will have no choice but to respect it."

When it comes to keeping her personal style up to date Brittany says, "I love to shop everywhere! The places that I frequent most are: Asos, Evans, New Look, Macys, and H&M."

Checkout some of Brittany's looks and be sure to checkout her personal style blog  Pockets and Bows if you haven't already.

Curvy celebrities from Queen Latifah to Amber Riley were out showing off their curves at two major events this week, Cover Girl's 50th Anniversary party and the 5th Annual People's Choice Awards.

Checkout which curvy celebs brought their fashion A-Game this week.

Amber Riley and Queen Latifah both looked ultra chic in black outfits. Amber rocked a sequin Donna Morgan dress, which was the same dress that Queen Latifah wore in her spread for Parade magazine. SC loves the blue satin peep toe pumps that Amber chose.
SC loves Queen Latifah's tuxedo suit and how she added her own personal flair by wearing sneakers. We used to see a lot of rappers doing this, however, it's refreshing to see that a feminine female like the Queen can do it just like the boys.

5th Annual People's Choice Awards

At the People's Choice Awards, host Queen Latifah opted for a super sexy pink peek-a-boo dress to show off her curves.

Khloe Kardashian opted for a bohemian goddess like look with a neutral color strapless gown that swept the floor.

A newly leaner Kim K. pinned her hair up and rocked a very chic printed strapless dress.

Raven Symone showed up to the awards in all black. Now, we love the leather boots and the pony tail, but, that ruffled jacket is a bit questionable. It's a little too much, but, we still think she looks so cute. Hey, fashion is about having fun and trying new things, right?

Hey curvy girls all over the world,
There is a new place  for curvy girls to find trendy pieces.  LaLa Belle is and Australian based company that makes clothes for plus size women who want to look trendy, classy, and super glamorous.

LaLa Belle says: We're inspired by the same trendy, classy, super-glamorous looks that all girls are - and we're using those inspirations to design high quality, ultra-stylish looks for full-figured women.

SC went poking around the site to checkout what they had to offer. As of right now, there isn't much to choose from. However, there were a few pieces that were pretty cute, like the hooded sequin dress, floral strapless top, and a couple of leather jackets. I do have to be honest and say that some of the clothes are a little pricey with dresses starting above $200 and the leather jackets priced above $700. I'm just hoping that the quality of the clothing is worth the prices.

Nevertheless, the site shows potential. Curvy girls are always looking to find clothes that are stylish and trendy and after looking at a few of the pieces LaLa Belle is headed in the right direction. I'm intrigued.

Here's a look at what SC's picks from the site:

Kicking off the new year with curvy girl fierceness is none other than Queen Latifah. The 37th annual People's Choice Award host was interviewed by Parade magazine on her career and personal experiences in the entrtainment industry. Queen also does a pretty nice fashion spread in the magazine rocking a black sequin Donna Morgan dress.

A few excerpts from the article:

FORGING YOUR OWN PATH CAN BE LONELY "My parents raised me to stand up for myself. If there was something I believed in, I had to fight for it. As a pioneer, sometimes I had to stand alone. You just have to believe in your own ideas."

IN CRISIS THERE IS OPPORTUNITY
"I've watched a lot of people in this business kind of freak out looking at the economy. I guess if you're used to having all the money in the world, you don't see how to make things work in bad times. But if you built things from the ground up, you're used to creating with less. We saw it coming and looked at it as a time to be creative. We've gotten so much accomplished behind the scenes in the last year--in film, music, television, Web content, food and beverage, and clothing--that I can't wait to see things come to fruition. The good thing about doing what I do is that if it's not already there, hopefully I can create it. Maybe I'll even make [my own drink]--Queen La-tea-fah!"

When I really sit and think about it, 2010 has flown by and so much has happened to and for me. Let's recap.
The month of February marked the first time I had ever stepped foot into the tents at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week. My first show was the Heart Truth Red Dress Collection. My fairy blog mother Kathryn (The Budget Fashionista) emailed me and said she was unable to make it and asked if I wanted to go. Uh, hell yeah! I remember that day like it was yesterday. I was so nervous because I didn't know what to expect and most importantly what to wear. As luck would have it, I went to work that day looking a hot mess. It was freezing cold and we were just getting over a snow storm. I ran into the NY&CO by my job to find an outfit, but, it was not fashion week worthy. So, I kept my coat on the whole time and wore a really cute pink hat and threw on some makeup. I promised myself I would be prepared for the next show. The experience was amazing.

Within that same week, I also went to the Lela Rose fashion show which was spectacular. The designs were so architectural and sophisticated. I also got to meet my dream hair stylist Ted Gibson who was super nice and thought me and my hair cut was adorable.

Later on in the year, I was featured on Glamour's website as Stylish Reader of the day. I know you should never rely on any one's approval of your personal style, but, I would be lying if I didn't consider Glamour's feature as a stamp of style approval. I sent my picture in telling them that curvy girls can wear horizontal stripes and I'm proving it.

A few months later I was featured in Plus Model Magazine and interviewed by the fabulous Maddy who I met at the Lane Bryant Blogger Conference.

Towards the end of the year I got to get my feet wet as a stylist thanks to Fashion to Figure and Plus Model Magazine.  I was blessed with the opportunity to hook up one lucky winner with a fabulous fashion to figure outfit. The experience was amazing and  I learned so much. It is a bigger challenge dressing someone other than yourself.

I am also truly thankful for being part of some amazing conferences like Lane Bryant, Just My Size, and Jessica London. I love that you all wanted to reach out to the plus size community to better your products.

I am very grateful for all the wonderful opportunities and experiences I've had as a blogger. Last and surely not least. To all of Stylish Curves readers. You will never know how much you mean to me. I think about you guys all the time whenever I am putting together a post. I think about how you will receive it and will it be helpful, informative, or interesting enough for you. I can only hope that I have accomplished this task and that you have enjoyed reading Stylish Curves for an entire year.
