How many times have you purchased an item that you just had to have and as the months go by you realize that you've only worn it once? I have to raise my hand and say, I've been an offender of this myself. As I said in a previous post, one of my New Year's resolutions was to get more out of my wardrobe by mixing and matching what I already own.

I scored this cobalt blue ruffled sleeve dress from ASOS and challenged myself to make it work in at least three ways. I'm a big believer in making your wardrobe work double duty and I feel like I've become sort of a pro at doing that. One of the best ways to get mileage out of your wardrobe is with accessories. Belts, earrings, bracelets, and statement necklaces can make a world of difference in an outfit.

Below are three ways that I'm utilizing accessories to get the most out of my LBD (Little Blue Dress).

Dressy Casual

For this look a statement belt and earrings are all I needed to punch up this simple yet chic dress.

 An Evening Out

A swap of a belt makes a difference.
A great way to get mileage out your dresses is to start wearing them as tops. For this look, I didn't just want to choose a plain old black belt, I wanted to play with a light color to contrast against the blues. I chose this natural colored wide belt and a pencil sequin skirt for a nighttime look.  I finished the look off with black chandelier earrings, and a multi crystal bracelet to make this look work for evening,

At The Office
It's no secret that a blazer is a transforming piece. I chose this natural color blazer, a tassel necklace, and a pair of men's style lace up pumps to wear this dress to work.

We are all in agreement that Amber Riley looked smoking hot in a black gown at the SAG Awards last night. What SC also loved about Amber's look was her makeup. Bright lips and golden eyes seem to be a popular trend amongst celebrities. Amber's makeup is great for a date night or when you need to punch up an all black ensemble. You can never go wrong with bright lips, a golden face, rosy cheeks.

Step up your summer work wardrobe with Ann Taylor's summer 2011 collection.

Last week SC was invited to checkout Ann Taylor's summer 2011 collection. Every year Ann Taylor has been stepping up their style game with classic styles and trendy details. For 2011 the summer collection takes us on a Mexican safari with colors like warm browns, golds, and deep oranges and reds. The safari feel didn't stop wit the colors, AT's hefty concentration on animal and watercolor  prints gave us even more of a safari vacation feel. We loved how AT is starting to play with shapes. Gone are the days of bland shift dresses. AT  has added ruffled hems, tulip cuts, and knotted waists dresses to spice things up.

Fabrics were light and stretchy offering a comfortable feel and the jewelry was bold and gaudy enough to add flair to any of the simple flowy maxi dresses and structured suits. Three of our favorite pieces were the tulip style watercolor dress, an all white short suit, and a red one shoulder ruffled skirt dress. This collection's is perfect for the end of summer especially for those August getaways.

There's not a woman alive that doesn't love them some Jimmy Choo shoes. The luxury brand is king of creating classic shoes with a sophisticated edge. Just like any luxury brand, Jimmy Choo doesn't come cheap and many of us have to put our face and hands on the glass window at Saks and Barney's only to stare at a pair of Jimmy Choo's because our budgets just won't allow them to walk into our closets.

Well, if you can't afford the shoes, you can afford the fragrance. Jimmy Choo has released their first fragrance and it is available at Saks Fifth Avenue. Jimmy Choo's founder Tamara Mellon
is the face of the ad campaign.

Here's what Mellon had this to say about the fragrance-“Fragrance has always been part of my vision for Jimmy Choo.  To fully extend the Jimmy Choo lifestyle, enveloping a woman with the sensuality and essence of the brand. I have always loved wearing perfume; it is part of my identity. Now to create a signature fragrance for Jimmy Choo expressing an aura of strength and beauty is my ultimate dream.”

The fragrance is being released in part with the Jimmy Choo brand celebrating its 15th year in the business. The fragrance will be available in Saks Fifth Avenue stores.

Tell SC are you going to grab up the first ever Jimmy Choo fragrance?

OK, I know you've probably already read about H&M's new plus size collection that's going to go  up to US size 24. When H&M first came to the states, their plus size line was nothing less than, how can I put it? A hot mess! The shapes were unflattering and the styles were a snooze with bland over sized t-shirts. However the smaller plus size girls, were able to get away with H&M's more stylish pieces in sizes 12-16. No matter how much I despised the plus size section in H&M I have to admit that I was a bit perturbed when they took it away for good.

Now H&M has decided to make a comeback with their plus sizes and it is definitely a crowd pleaser. The new plus size collection is vibrant with color, intriguing with dainty details, and shapes that are sure to make a plus size girl be proud of her curves. My only disappointment is that the clothes will not be available in store. They will only be available on line. I mean come on people, I want to try clothes on just like everyone else without having to pay the over priced shipping fee. I'm quite sure H&M can clear out some space in a few of their already over stuffed retail stores to make way for the curvy girls. Forever21 did it so can they.

Nevertheless, I am quite ecstatic for the plus size community to have another stylish and trendy place to shop and kudos to H&M for using actual plus size models and finally designing clothes that embraces curves rather than hide them.

*The collection will be available online in March only in the UK (That Sucks!).

Hey curvy girls all over the world,
This weekend I spent a little time with my family. We were celebrating the life of one of my cousins who past away 10 years ago. I had so much fun visiting with everyone and it just reminded me how important family is.

This is my favorite snapshot of the night. It makes me want to sing the Sister Sledge family reunion classic. "We are family, I got all my sisters with me."
Me along with my sister on the left and my cousins in the red dresses. I wore my colored animal print H&M dress it's the same one from an ootd I did lst month. you can check it out HERE

Remember the good times with your family and remember that you're family

This weekend I wanted to keep things casual but still look put together. I decided to pull out my Calvin Klein waterfall animal print cardigan that I got on sale at Lord and Taylor last week. The cardigan is actually a little too big but it's nothing that a belt couldn't fix. I layered a black turtleneck under it so that I would stay warm. As I said last year, Calvin Klein's fall 2010 collection was one of my favorites. It was perfect cuts and prints that any curvy girl would want to wear young or mature.
The cardigan is very versatile. It looks just as good open as it does closed. I will be wearing it to work this week over one of my dresses.
I am a crazy earring fanatic. I love big earrings or earrings with unique detail. I scored these earrings at Strawberry's and I love the onyx stone and the draped chains around it.

Shirt dresses are one of the most undeniably chic pieces a curvy girl can have in her wardrobe. It's as essential as the trench coat.  Depending on the cut it can streamline your curves as well as enhance your voluptuous assets. We've seen curvy celebrities from Kim Kardashian, Jessica Simpson, and even the First Lady all donning this simply chic piece. For those of you who are beginning to build a spring wardrobe be sure to add this classic look to your list. For the bold curvy girl try one in animal print. For the sexy sophisticated curvy girl, try an asymmetric cascading ruffle style shirt dress that can take you from the board room to drinks after work. What ever your style, there's a shirt dress waiting for you. We even helped you out by picking out a few of our favorites.

What girl doesn't love statement jewelry? I know I do! Which is why I was intrigued by a slightly new jewelry line called Shameless Jewelry. A collection of rings, bracelets, and necklaces that actually has very interesting statements embedded in them.

Designer Shea Curry is an actress who was in films such as Princess Diaries 2. Whenever filming she would make jewelry for her female cast mates and crew. Her creations garnered attention when she made her own jewelry for her wedding and it was featured in InStyle Weddings Magazine. Shea decided she had something special and continued making her unique creations which she calls Shameless Jewelry because she considered herself unabashedly bold, bodacious, spunky, and saucy. Shea wanted to showcase the dual personalities of a female.

Her latest collection is the Naughty/Nice collection that combines provocative phrases using 100% sterling silver and 14K gold plating and each piece is handcrafted. Prices range from $35-$230.

Checkout the Shameless Jewelry Collection. You can also go to the website at Shameless Jewelry.

Tell SC what you think about this jewelry line.
