Hey curvy girls all over the world,
I am filled with glee (so cheesy, I know) to see the cast of Glee on the cover of Marie Claire's May issue.
The May issue has a few covers. One cover features all three of Glee's resident diva's, Amber Riley, Leah Michelle, and Diana Agron. In addition to the cover featuring all 3 fabulous girls, each Glee star also gets their own cover. Love It! I'm super happy to see Amber getting the cover of a national magazine and surprisingly it's Marie Claire. This still doesn't excuse the little nasty fat people kissing is disgusting article that they had on their website last year. Just saying!

In celebration of the Glee covers, Marie Claire is also running a number of contests. You can win tickets to see Glee in concert and you can also win the cover looks.

Hey curvy girls all over the world,
It looks like there were quite a few of our curvy celebrities out and about this weekend at award shows and preview events. Let's take a look at who was working their looks or who needed to go back to the drawing board. Vote!
Jennifer Hudson looks super cute in a ruffled mini skirt and printed tank. I'm actually feeling the side braid too.

Jordin Sparks kept her look simple this weekend in a fuchsia fitted dress and leopard print heels to spice things up. I would have loved if she did a few more accessories. Some multi colored bangles would have been cool.

Yolanda Adams is a tall drink of water, however she has curves for days. I love how she's showing them off in  this ruched gray dress.

Ok, I'm not really feeling Raven Symone's dress. I'm not sure if it's the color or the popcorn like pearls on it.

Who do you think hit the style mark?

Hey curvy girls all over the world,
Last year One Stop Plus, the biggest online shopping mall presented a plus size fashion show during Mercedes Benz fashion week. While I was partial to the runway collection you can read my review Here, I still thought that they had a number of pieces that were modern and wearable by fashion forward plus size woman. OSP was nice enough to gift me a few pieces from the collection. I did an outfit post on one of the pieces which was the pink blazer, seen Here . I also received the white leather jacket and the draped neck fitted dress, which I will show you in future outfit posts.

Having seen the collection upfront, I can say, that the pieces are made of quality and they are tailored. The collection is cut small, which means you will probably have to size up, especially in the pants if you carry most of your weight on the lower half of your body, like I do.

As of today, the OSP runway collection is now available for purchase. Pricing is moderate with pieces ranging from $40-$220. Which is a great price range for quality tailored pieces. Whether you were a fan of the collection or not, I'm sure you will find something that speaks to your style. You can purchase the collection at One Stop Plus now.

Below are SC's picks from the collection:

These pieces are a bit more on trend and fashion forward.

The draped neck dress and blouse are really flattering to those of us with ample bossoms. I tried the dress on and it truly fits like a glove. However, since it is a light color it does show all your lumps and bumps. So foundation is a MUST.

The pink blazer has a tailored fit. I would say it fits true to size. The pink dress looks super cute for spring.

The white jacket actually looks off white in person. Also when unzipped the flaps are rather large. The jacket looks better zipped up than open.

These wide leg silk trousers are awesome, however, they run small. They would go well with a tank and some platform sandals. The denim shirt is very cute.

Hey curvy girls all over the world,

I am very happy to announce that I will be part of this year's Full Figured Fashion Week as a member of the The Fashion Front  aka the Curvy Collective.  Last summer FFFWeek blew the lid off of NYC and then in the fall shut it down in LA. This year FFFWeek is at it again. They will be bringing more plus size fashion designers, offering roundtable conversations with some of the plus size community's elite movers and shakers. Oh, and it's being hosted by Shanda Freeman wife of Fatman Scoop.

Since I'm part of the Fashion Front team, please read the blog everyday so you don't miss out on the latest FFFWeek news and updates. FFFWeek 2011 will be held from June 16-18th.

So, it looks like spring is still in teasing mode. One day it's a beautiful sunny 60 degree day and the next it's a dreary brisk 45 degree day. I really get annoyed when the weather gets finicky, because all I want to do is wear my spring clothes and san my stockings and boots. The other day was a mix of warm and cool, and sun and clouds. I decided to wear my striped dress that I got from Faith21 Plus. It's the one I bought for my shop like an editor challenge (pictured here). I truly love how this dress fits and it made me feel confident because of the way it outlined my shape.

I wore a cropped blazer with it for the office and my red suede pumps. I can't wait until the weather truly warms up so, I can rock a pair of pink strappy sandals with it. You will probably see more of this dress for spring because I think it's just so versatile and can be styled in a myriad of ways.

I know the rules say that plus size women shouldn't wear horizontal stripes, especially skinny ones, but, all I have to say to that is (in my best Vivica Fox voice) "You can put that where, back there." Stripes seem to be a major trend this year (every year, really), a la Marc Jacobs and Jil Sander, so, my big butt, hips, and thighs will gladly partake in this trend.
Someone called, lol. Not really, I just wanted to be extra for the photo.

This mornings curvy girl fierceness comes from fellow curvy girl and plus size model Robin Lawley who covers the new April issue of French Elle. Looking super chic in a cobalt blue dress the model shows off her curvaceous figure.`

This is not the first time Elle has placed a curvy girl or plus size girl on their cover.Over a year ago Tara Lynn graced the covers in a white jumpsuit and "Precious" star Gabourey Sidibe graced one of four covers of American Elle. We love that Elle is embracing curves, however, not to be prude, it's time for magazines to be more consistent with showing voluptuous women and clothes that cater to plus size curves.

Just my two cents.
Hey curvy girls all over the world,
Remember last week when I told you that the new plus size shopping site Navabi would be carrying luxury designer Roberto Cavalli in plus on their website (read here),well, now it's here. I received a message from the folks over at the online plus size shopping site Navabi that the Roberto Cavalli plus was now available.

The plus collection is labeled Roberto Cavalli White and it's priced from $500 to about $1,500. As of right now, there are about 13 pieces from the collection available. In true Roberto Cavalli fashion there are lots of animal prints, black and white, and of course a few figure hugging pieces.

Take a  look at a few pieces and tell SC what you think.

Hey curvy girls all over the world,
Jennifer Hudson, the iconic Aretha Franklin, and Adele are all featured in the music issue of Elle magazine. The fierce Gwen Stefani is the cover girl of the music issue and inside
Elle honors the women in music who are shaking things up in 2011.

check out their pics:

Adele
On the love songs written about her ex: “We’re not on great enough terms for me to say, ‘Oh, have you heard my record? It’s number one; did you know?”

Aretha Franklin
On wardrobe options for her tour: “I am going to rock this [size] 16. Sixteen probably sounds large to girls who wear 10s and 12s, but I love it, because it looks good on me.”

Jennifer Hudson
On the changes in her life: “My surroundings and my lifestyle are different, and it’s like, what part of Jennifer is the same as 10 years ago? The only thing I have to hold on to is my voice.”

The idea of a caftan as a dress is nothing new, but, thanks to designers like Rachel Pally plus size women now have stylish options to pull the look off.  When trying out this look, the caftan should not swallow your body whole. It should either drape your curves or skim them. For a more streamlined effect, the best way to pull this look off is by belting it. A medium to large size belt is a good option if the caftan is long or past the knee. It also helps to combat all that fabric. This is a great style to transition from hanging out at the beach to having drinks or dinner. It's an effortless look that packs a lot of punch. If you're looking for that bohemian glam look then try a caftan dress.

Accessorize your caftan with wedges, a straw hat, or strappy sandals
