Hey curvy girls all over the world,
The beautiful petite Eva Longoria was spotted wearing a chic one shoulder side draped dress in a pale nude color with matching nude pumps. Eva's style is always classic and sophisticated with a youthful flair. Neutrals are a hot trend this year that celebrities can't seem to get enough of. We love that Eva added a little color to a completely nude look with a pair of green drop earrings. If you love Eva's look for an elegant evening out or for your own red carpet events then don't fret because SC has hooked you up with an almost identical look for your curves thanks to the trendy designers at ASOS.

Hey curvy girls all over the world,
A few weeks ago we attended the Ann Taylor 2011 Fall preview. For the past few seasons Ann Taylor has been making some impressive strides to create looks that appeal to both the young and trendy and to the mature and sophisticated. We think every season they get better and better at this. For their 2011 fall collection AT really paid attention to the trends. They incorporated popular trends such as color blocking, neutrals, and bright rich jewel tone colors. Many of the looks gave off a classic lady like vibe. Chiffon tops, leg lengthening trousers, and fur all gave a nod to the modern woman who loves classic looks but likes to spice things up with fur and animal prints. We love how they belted a fur vest over a suit jacket and paired a gray leopard print jacket with chic trousers.

Ann Taylor always has great accessories and for the upcoming fall season they don't disappoint. Get your budgets ready because you'll find it hard to resist the super cute lace up ankle boots, tasseled chunky heeled loafers, and snake skin bags. To go with those classic looks, AT offers some lovely statement necklaces, bracelets, and chunky cocktail rings. Overall we thought the collection was very sophisticated and doused with enough on trend pieces to make you feel modern.

Check out a  few pieces from the collection and tell SC what you think:

For attending this event Alissa received an Ann Taylor bracelet.

Hey curvy girls all over the world,
Ms. Adele has been one busy young lady. Her album 21 debuted at number one on the charts, she's had features in magazines such as InStyle and Elle and now the wonder kid has snagged the coveted cover of Rolling Stone. Woot, woot!  We love her cover! That full bouncy hair and her dreamy eyes just draw us in.

We're big fans of Adele and her music. What we love most about Adele is how candid she is about her music, life, and her body.

In an industry where being thin and overly sexual are prerequisites for maintaining a successful career, Adele squashes those stereotypes by thriving on her talent and passion for great soulful music. This young beauty is taking the music industry by storm and playing by her own rules. The cover of Rolling Stone is a major deal. It's almost like a rights of passage and Adele was a perfect choice.

For her album 21 Adele gets personal and deep. Critics and fans are mesmerized by Adele's voice and the passion and pain she delivers with it.

In the Rolling Stone issue Adele talks about her body and music. Here's a little excerpt of her interview with Rolling Stone contributor Toure

Adele on her weight:
"My life is full of drama and I won't have time to worry about something as petty as what I look like," "I don't like going to the gym. I like eating fine foods and drinking nice wine. Even if I had a really good figure, I don't think I'd get my tits and ass out for no one."I love seeing Lady Gaga’s boobs and bum. I love seeing Katy Perry’s boobs and bum. Love it. But that’s not what my music is about. I don’t make music for eyes, I make music for ears.”

Adele on her music education London's BRIT School:
“It was like Fame,” she says. “There were kids doing pirouettes in the fuckin’ hallway and doing mime and having sing-offs in the foyer.”

Adele on her alter ego Sasha Carter (a combo of Sasha Fierce and June Carter):
“I was about to meet BeyoncĂ©,” she says, “and I had a full-blown anxiety attack. Then she popped in looking gorgeous, and said, ‘You’re amazing! When I listen to you I feel like I’m listening to God.’ Can you believe she said that?” Later, “I went out on the balcony crying hysterically, and I said, ‘What would Sasha Fierce do?’ That’s when Sasha Carter was born.”

Hey curvy girls all over the world,
The face of FFFWeek is Nina Taylor. Out of tons of applicants Nina was chosen by FFFWeek's panel of judges: Madeline Figueroa-Jones (Editor, PLUS Model Magazine), Sharon Quinn (FFFWeek Casting Director), and Stephanie Penn-Dansforth (Editor-in-Chief, Daily Venus Diva). Last year the beautiful Rosie Mercado was the face of FFFWeek 2010 and since then her career as a model has blossomed to great heights. Congrats to Nina on this wonderful honor.

Here's a little bit about Nina
Nina Taylor is a native of Washington DC. In May 2006 she completed her bachelors degree in Psychology in Pittsburgh, PA, December of 2009 she went on to complete her Master's degree in Human Resource Development focusing on education and training. Full time, Nina has a career in medical education in the field of Oncology and Virology (Cancer, HIV and Hepatitis.) She is responsible for the organizations, continuing medical education program accreditation as well as managing an educational tool for Cancer and HIV physicians domestically and internationally.

Nina has always had an interest in fashion and beauty. Within the past few years she has seen a shift in the standard of beauty due to progressive, exceptional full figured women who believe in the plus size industry and the undeniable talent within the curvy community. In the past, fashion and modeling have all been exclusionary to full figure women. In today's society, full-figured women are breaking out of their shells, embracing themselves and excelling in not only careers, but fashion modeling and social platforms within their communities. Nina saw this shift and wanted to take her place among other great plus size women. Nina draws inspiration from celebrities such as Jill Scott, Oprah, Mae West, Emme, Mia Tyler, Mia Amber, Velvet D'Amour, Ethel Waters, Ashley Graham and Queen Latifah. Nina enjoys modeling, makeup and photography as it serves as an exciting creative release to her highly scientific background.

Nina has a strong passion to serve her community, she works with and provides support for pregnant teens, autistic children and donates her knowledge and skills in makeup, fashion and beauty to women in the DC, Maryland and Virginia areas. She also takes interest in the youth and serves as a mentor to two teenage girls (Ages 13 & 19). She works closely with a Chamber of Commerce to assist in generating ideas for small business owners and minority entrepreneurs. Nina also has an extensive background in theater, consulting, public speaking and is a fan of paintball, the Pittsburgh Steelers and classic black and white movies.

Be sure to add FFFWeek to your calendars for June 16th-18th.

Stay tuned for more updates.

Hey curvy girls all over the world,
Evans has unveiled new pieces from their May spring collection. They tapped the smoking hot Marquita Pring to model chic looks that consist of  pleated maxi skirts, simple colour block dresses in a neutral colour palette, and pleated peg leg trousers.

The looks offer a contemporary edge that will appease the fashion forward curvy girl as well as the curvy girl who adores classic pieces in modern silhouettes. These looks are a mixture of boho and downtown girl chic. We love the fierceness Marquita is bringing.

The new collection will become available for purchase in the beginning of May at EVANS

I love Me Top-Wet Seal

Here at SC we love how fashion just keeps repeating itself. Currently one of the hot spring trends is the crop top. Yes, you heard right. The crop top was a popular trend int he 80' and 90's. The good thing about the return of this trend is that the it's a little more modern and it comes in plus sizes.

I know a lot of plus size women feel like some of the trends are not made for them and the cropped top is one of them. Here at SC we believe plus size girls can wear the same trends as straight sizes, you just have to find the right cut for your body type. To show you that plus sizes girls can wear a cropped top we created three outfits to show you that it can be done in a way that makes you feel comfortable and proud of your curves.

Crop Top- Alloy

Crop Top-Alloy

If you prefer to not show your belly and refuse to wear a tank under the top, then take a cue from my big sister in blogging The Curvy Fashionista and wear a crop top over a dress. I told you curvy girls can rock this look too. Marie looks great!

Below are our tips for pulling off the cropped top look if you're plus:
Find the right length- cropped tops are all about the mid section so it's important that you find the right length that works for you and that you're comfortable with. If you are one of those curvy or plus size women with flat abs like plus model Fluvia Lacerda then try a cropped top that hits just below your belly button. Not the kind of curvy girl that wants to show off your belly then choose a cropped top that grazes the top of your jeans or skirt.
How to wear it- One of the most flattering ways to wear a crop top is to pair it with a high waisted skirt or high waisted jeans. To take the comfort level up a notch, wear a tank top under it. This way as you move around and lift and stretch you don't have to worry about exposing your mid section.
When to wear it- Choose your crop top outfit for fun events like a music festival, at the beach, or for a night out with the girls. Do Not Wear To Work. I repeat, Do Not Wear To Work!

Will you be trying this trend?
