Today's Stylish Curves of the day comes from Inez.

When it comes to embracing her curves

Inez says:

I have come to truly love my shape and I try to play up my best features. I love short skirts for play and longer pencil skirts for work.

I love to layer and I love shirts with cute details. I also love empire waisted things. Whatever accentuates my figure,

I will wear! I embrace my curves by not being afraid to try new things and accentuate what I'm working with.
Inez's fashion tip she lives by: My fashion tip is, Be yourself!

What works for everyone may not work for you. Learn your body and don't be afraid to try something new. If it doesn' t work...it doesn't work. But if it does you'll love it!
Be sure to checkout Inez's blog at http://www.stylechic360.blogspot.com/
Thanks Inez for sending in your pics. That printed skirt and denim strapless dress is too cute.

Hillary Duff  was spotted in Beverly Hills looking super cute in a body con skirt, printed camisole and nude pumps. We love Hillary's look because its sexy, pulled together, and it stands out. Hillary's look is easy to recreate because we all have these pieces in our closets and probably never thought to put them together or we thought the combo would be too bland. Well, Hillary's look says never under estimate the power of a camisole and a body con skirt.

Hillary is rocking a Diane Von Furstenberg printed camisole, which is still available but only goes up to a size Large.

Each year swimsuits for the plus size and curvy girl get better and better.  Long gone are the days of bland one pieces and frumpy swim dresses. These days women are loving their curves and when it comes to the beach they want to express their body love in smoking hot swimsuits. This season designers have gone retro with swimwear like bringing back the high waisted bikini. We are also loving the sexy draped neck styles from Monif C. They're a perfect option for those pool parties where you feel like your swimsuit is too cute to get wet.

If you have a swimsuit in your closet that has that old school over sized floral print on it, we say toss that tacky suit and try a leopard print or a polka dot style. Whether you like your swimsuit to be classic, sexy, trendy, or sweet, SC has found 12 swimsuits to suit your fashion taste buds.

Hey curvy girls all over the world,
So, it looks like we may be back on with a regular feature of Stylish Curves of the day. This week I received an email from Yolanda submitting her looks to be part of Stylish Curves of the day.

Check out what Yolanda had say on how she embraces her curves and what's her fashion tip to live by:

I've always been hugely into fashion and shopping even though it can be a bit difficult at times being kinda pear shaped and short (5'2") but if I have to, I'll get certain items tailored to fit better.  Currently I'm at the heaviest weight I've ever been in my life yet it seems that I'm embracing my curves more now than I was when I was smaller (even though I've been at least a pant size 12 since high school).
I think over the years I've just learned how to dress for my body type instead of trying to follow treads or wear what I saw others wearing.  However, I've somewhat figured out how to kinda do both but making it fit me and my personality more.  The fact that more stores and websites are carrying more fashionable plus sized clothing definitely makes it more easy as well.  My favorite stores are Torrid and Forever 21.  I love anything with prints and lots of color.
I love to accessorize and I think in combination with my many tattoo's and constantly changing hair styles, it makes me more confident because it makes me stand out, more unique.  That and the fact that I'm just more comfortable in my own skin, I've learned to truly love me!

A fashion tip I live by is, just because they make it in your size doesn't mean it's for you.  Wear what works for your body and your personality instead of following trends because being unique is always trendy.

Thanks Yolanda for sending in your looks. I own two of the cute Faith21 dresses you're wearing.

What do you think of Yolanda's style?

If you would like to send in pictures of your best looks to be featured as Stylish Curves of the day then send 3-5 looks to stylishcurves@gmail.com along with a blurb about how you embrace your curves and a fashion tip you live by.

Hey curvy girls all over the world,
Yesterday, I went to work in this striped jersey shirtdress from Norma Kamali. I bought this dress back in the winter time and like so many things in my closet forgot that it was there. Since the weather was quite chilly and I didn't feel spring like. I thought this dress would compliment how I was feeling because right now I'm in a black phase as you've seen from the last few ootd posts.
By now, you all know that I'm a sucker for stripes and animal prints. I don't know why I'm always drawn to them, but, I just am. The majority of my striped pieces are all horizontal stripes. I was drawn to this dress because it has vertical stripes and it was black and gray. At first, I hated the dress. It was a little too big at the top and it kind of just hung on me. I was too lazy to return it, so, I stashed it in the closet, which is why I forgot about it.
For the office, I decided to wear my black cropped jacket with it and a black patent leather buckle belt that I took from another dress. I wanted to spruce it up with a few silver accessories that I got from Ashley Stewart. I found these black and silver link earrings and large silver cuffs that I thought were bold enough to make the dress standout. I was thinking about wearing my red suede shoes, but, I really wanted to wear my Jessica Simpson platforms again because I just adore them. I felt I needed some kind of color so I put on my MAC ruby woo lipstick. I will admit, I'm still on the fence about the dress. People kept staring at me all day. I didn't know if they were thinking, man, that's an ugly dress or she looks cute.

Does that ever happen to you?

Hey curvy girls all over the world,
Another fellow curvy girl has snagged a major magazine cover. Jill Scott is gracing the June 2011 cover of  Ebony magazine. The June issue of Ebony is dubbed their music issue, where they celebrate the top 25 hottest artists of 2011. This year Jill has been turning heads. First it started with her super edgy hair cut complete with a side shaven head. Then Ms. Scott dropped 50 pounds, and now she is releasing her long awaited LP titled "Light of the sun." We love Jill's Ebony cover because it's vibrant, colorful, and show's Jill's beautiful smile. Jill's cover shot look is composed of a tan leather asymmetrical jacket, a red skirt, and a pair of peacock earrings.

You can checkout some of the footage from her photo shoot where Jill is seen rocking a fabulous yellow dress, purple jumpsuit, and more. Checkout the video here

Many of you may have already heard that the beautiful and talented plus size model and actress Mia Amber has passed away. Like many of you, I'm in shock and for a few moments yesterday was speechless. Mia's death was truly untimely. Mia was a fierce model who made young girls everywhere feel good about their curves. She was a scene stealer in the movie Road Trip as Rhonda, and she was a fabulous business woman and producer as we got to see on The Janice Dickinson show. Mia was a true pioneer in the plus size modeling industry. Her look and her style let it be known that plus size models can work it just like any other model.

I met Mia through Maddy the editor of Plus Model Mag. Mia just like Maddy was so sweet and pleasant. From our first meeting Mia always had a kind word to say and was just an all around class act. Every time I ran into her at events she was always smiling and never short in her conversations.

I can remember the last time I actually saw Mia. It was back in Feb. I ran into her at Forever 21 on 42nd street. She was trying to find a dress for an event and I was just lunch break shopping. As soon as I saw her she embraced me with a real warm hug and sincerely asked how I was doing. After a few moments of chatting she was off to the fitting room and I  said I'll meet you in there. However, I didn't get to catch her in the fitting room because she had to go. Never for a second did I think I wouldn't literally see her again.
I can honestly say that Mia was a true inspiration always representing for plus size women and letting the world know that we are beautiful, smart, and sexy. I particularly remember when she was on Tyra's show about the size 0's in the modeling industry and how these waif thin models were dying. One of the guests was calling Mia fat and all kinds of names. Mia so graceful yet stern looked that lady in the eye and said I'm beautiful. That has always stuck with me and I will never forget her and I will forever be inspired by her to do my part in the plus size community by making sure I'm uplifting women as she did for millions of us girls with a little meat on our bones.

When I remember Mia I will remember her bold, beautiful, and confident character that she displayed throughout her career. I will remember the funny side of her that we got to see in music videos. And most importantly, because of Mia, I will remember that my body is beautiful.

My prayers are with her husband, family, and friends. Rest In Peace Mia!

Fellow curvy girl Chrisette Michele was spotted at the "You are the power concert." Chrisette rocked a tribal print over sized coat with light blue jeans and a pair of funky silver sandals. Was she working it or is it back to the drawing board for this curvy girl?

Hey curvy girls all over the world,
Today thanks to Tiffany, an old feature has been reprised. We used to do a feature called Stylish Curves of the day where readers would send in pictures of their best looks and tell us how they embrace their curves. Last summer we were going strong with the feature but the emails dried up. I found Tiffany on Facebook and reached out to her to send in a few of her pictures and for her to tell us how she embraces her curves.

Here's Tiffany's looks and what she had to say about how she embraces her curves:

I embrace my curves by not being ashamed of what God gave me.

Yes I have a little more than the average female, but that doesn’t mean that I can’t carry myself just as well, if not better.

I Love expressing myself through fashion, but it can be a bit challenging because the clothes don’t always cater to my size, but there are ways to get around that.

I shop everywhere, but my favorite places are ASOS, American Apparel, Forever21 and H&M. Sometimes I get items made if I don’t see what I want on the racks.

Also, we asked Tiffany to give us a fashion tip that she lives by

Fashion Tip I live by: Set your own trends, if it works for yout then it’ll never go out of style!

What do you guys think of Tiffany's style?

***If you would like to be featured on Stylish Curves as the curvy girl of the day send in 3-6 looks with a blurb on how you embrace your curves and a fashion tip you live by to Stylishcurves@gmail.com

Hey curvy girls all around the world,
I hope everyone had a wonderful Mother's Day weekend. I know I did. Saturday I had a shopping date with Danielle from the blog Rhapso_DY. We met up at Redress to bring in our old gear hoping to scoop up something new. It was a casual day so I wore a cute little striped top that I bought at H&M and a pair of capris that I scored at the Gap on sale. I also wore my fave wedges that I got from Banana Republic about 5 years ago when they used to make really cute shoes.
We spent about 2 hours in ReDress just talking and laughing it up. I kind of felt like it was meant for us to be there because we ran into the cutest young girl. Her mom was trying to find something for her to wear to prom. All I could think was, I remember those days. The mom was fustrated because they had been to a myriad number of stores and couldn't find anything age appropriate for the young girl who was about 13 years old. ReDress was her last stop and she's was hoping to find something young, fun, and that made her daughter feel good about her body.

What I'm wearing: Top-H&M, Capris-Gap, Wedges-Banan Republic, Watch-Michael Kors, Cuff-Loft  (gifted)

In the fitting room next to the mom and daughter, Danielle and I were giggling like school girls while trying on pieces and creating outfits. The mom over heard us and she asked us if we could help her find something for her daughter. Of course Danielle and I jumped at the chance and brought the daughter a few items to try on. What I couldn't get passed was the sad look upon her daughters face. You could tell she wasn't comfortable with her body yet and she looked very annoyed that her options were limited. My heart went out to the littel girl because I remember how it was back in the 90's trying to find that perfect prom dress or clothes period that were cute and fit well. Although there are way more options now than ever before, there still is the problem of not being able to go in a store and try something on in your size.

To make a long story short, the young girl found a dress. I had tried on a silver pleated oversized dress and as I was twirling around in front of the mirror the mom and daughter saw me in it and asked if I were going to buy it. Looking at the hopefulness in her eyes that I wouldn't buy it, I told her no and happily gave the dress to the them. Danielle gave them some great tips on how to style the dress to make it work for prom we also pointed them in the direction of Faith21 on 42nd St. just in case they wanted a few more options. The mom was grateful to have ran into us and Danielle and we gave them our contact info.

That entire situation at Redress on Saturday stuck with me all day. One of my missions in life is to work with young plus size girls on body image and self confidence. So, right now I'm toying around with a few ideas to do my part in boosting the body confidence of young plus size girls. I'm thinking of starting a non profit, Big Sister program or a website/blog specifically catering to young plus size/curvy girls ages 12-16, Saturday showed me that there is so much work to be done in improving the self esteem of  the younger  generation. It also showed me the importance of brands to offer age appropriate clothing for the young plus size girls out there. My thoughts are all over the place right now, but, I wanted to share with you guys how important it is to encourage young women.

I feel that our young plus size girls need those of us who are confident with our bodies to help them become confident with theirs and to be honest it's not just plus size girls it's young girls of all sizes. However, the young plus size girl is rarely thought about in the fashion industry. She either has two options, to dress like her mother or dress overly sexy for her age. They need our help!

Hey curvy girls all over the world,
This weekend Jordin Sparks was spotted at the Kentucky Derby in what looks like leggings/jeggings, a striped top, tan blazer, and a church hat. Now, although I've never been to the Kentucky Derby, I do know it's an event where you show up and show out by wearing fancy dresses and statement making hats. Jordin's look is young, but, was it appropriate for the Kentucky Derby?

Tell SC if fellow curvy girl Jordin Sparks is working it or is it back to the drawing board?

Hey curvy girls all over the world,
Right now I'm in love with black and white prints. As I said in my last outfit post I will be incorporating more black into my wardrobe. Black and white is such a chic and polished combination that you can almost never go wrong with it. The other day I was out window shopping and came across this fantastic zebra like print halter shirt dress. I love the full skirt and halter neck. I just felt so lady like in it. Normally I would wear a colored shoe with black and white, but, I wanted to wear these Jessica Simpson slingbacks with it because I don't get to wear them much. They are so comfortable. I don't know what she puts in her shoes but that is one comfy platform.
Hope you guys have a great weekend.

What I'm wearing
Dress: Faith21 Plus
Shoes: Jessica Simpson
Earrings: Armani Exchange
Bracelet: Rainbow's

Hey curvy girls allover the world,
One of our fave curvy models Toccara Jones recently shot a spread for Evans new spring collection. Toccara was shot in Miami modeling chic kimono and pleated tops, neutral colored maxi skirts and dresses. All the looks are very 70's boho chic. We love that this limited edition collection boast premium cuts and quality fabrics that will flatter the curvy girl. Evans has always been a brand that caters to both the mature and sophisticated to the young and contemporary. This spring/summer season is all about neutrals, color blocking, and easy flattering silhouettes. Evans managed to capture these styles and has made it appropriate for every age.

According to Evans, "The new spring season collection from Evans focuses on shape and style. While Evans has been inspired by the catwalk trends the range also takes direction from this season's colours, key prints and shapes, that really work to flatter a curvaceous silhouette."
The collection is available now and priced around $60-$130. You can purchase pieces from the collection HERE

What do you think about the new spring collection?
