Hey curvy girls all over the world,
Today's Stylish Curves of the day is Vivi. When it comes to embracing her curves, here's what Vivi has to say:

I will admit, it took me a while to embrace my curves. As time progressed, I came to realize that there is nothing wrong with injecting color to your outfit or wearing trendy and fashionable clothes. As long as you pick items that work for your body, you're good to go. I am a sucker for print, which may be the reason why I love the trend of mixing fabrics. If I can wear skirts and dresses everyday of the week, I would. I don't have the best of legs, but I sure do love to show them off!
Vivi's fashion tip to live by is: Accessorize, accessorize, accessorize! I truly believe that an outfit is not complete without the right necklace, the right scarf, the right purse, etc. Even add fun pieces to your outfit like wearing a brooch or rocking a hair scarf or tying a scarf on the handle of your purse.

Vivi is also a blogger check out her blog over at http://www.heartprintandstyle.blogspot.com/

Thanks Vivi for sending in your pictures and I will send you my address so you can mail me that yellow plaid blazer.
What do you think of Vivi's style?

If you would like to be featured as Stylish Curves of the Day submit 3-6 full length body shots in your best looks along with a blurb about how you embrace your curves and a fashion tip to live by to stylishcurves@gmail.com.

Hey curvy girls all over the world,
Last week Donna Karan wore an uber chic blush colored ruched gown to the CFDA awards. While we were all against her shoe choice we agreed that the dress was gorg.
Well, SC has found something similar for the curvy girl who is above a size 14. Inclusive brand T-Bags has an equally chic draped v-neck maxi dress that is Grecian inspired and it comes in sizes 1X-3X. Yes!
Get the look:

The T-Bags dress gives such an effortless feel that we would even pair it with flat gladiator sandals for a dressy casual look.

Right now the T-Bags dress is on sale at Saks for $160. Not bad at all.

Feathered earrings are an old trend that has made a comeback this season. Celebrities from Jill Scott to Vanessa Hudgens have all been spotted sporting feathered earrings. We love that feathered earrings are fun and kind of quirky. They are definitely conversation starters. Just imagine talking someone and boom, they say, "Hey, is that a feather on your ear, cool!" Instantly you (really, the earrings) become the talk of the party.

We like the variety of styles in this trend. You can go for a peacock style like Jill Scott did on the cover of Ebony or you can get multi colored exotic styles like Vanessa Hudgens. We don't think this trend will be around for long, so, we say get it on the feathered earring trend now.

Will you be trying this trend?

Hey curvy girls all over the world,
Today's Stylish Curves of the day comes from Jessica. When it comes to embracing her curves Jessica says,
"I love using fashion as a way to show off my personality, moods and most importantly my curves. Fashion isnt about hiding things that you dont like about your body or trying to make clothes "work" for you. Clothing is a way to express WHO YOU ARE.
I love showing off my quirk's with taking risks with fashion. Stripes, prints, bold colours, sometimes all in one outfit - I ignore all the rules that curvettes are meant to follow.
I take fashion and I make it my own, curves and all. Fashion is wearable art - wear it with out fear!"

Jessica's fashion tip to live by is:
"Never dress for other people. People are going to judge you no matter how you look or what you wear. So dress how you like, dress in what makes you feel stunning, and most importantly dress in what makes you feel like YOU."

Thanks Jessica for sending in your pictures. I see you are having a love affair with ASOS ;). Check out Jessica's blog at http://www.toomanysequins.blogspot.com/

What do you think of Jessica's style?

Hey curvy girls all over the world,
We are still celebrating the two year anniversary of Stylish Curves. In continuation of this celebration. This week I am bringing you more Fashion to Figure giveaways. This week only, I will be giving away an item a day from Fashion to Figure. The gracious people at FTF reached out to SC to unload a few left over pieces from their photoshoot. Since these are from the photoshoot the pieces are plus size sample sizes which means they're all a 1X.

However, the clothes can fit a size 2X as well.

First up for grabs is this super cute fuchsia and black striped asymmetrical cut dress. It's made of 96%polyester and 4% spandex. The dress has a low draped back and you can also pull off the shoulder for a different look. It can be worn as a dress or tunic with leggings. The fabric is quite stretchy so if you're a 2X you can possibly get away with it. The stripes are diagonal around the stomach which offers a very flattering look.

If you want it, then here are the rules

The contest rules are really simple:
-You must be a Twitter follower of both Fashion to Figure (@ftf_tweet) and Stylish Curves (@stylishcurves)
-Tweet the following: I want to win this @stylishcurves and @ftf_tweet giveaway
-Leave your name and email address in the comment section of this post

That's it!

The giveaway will end tomorrow Tuesday at 1pm Eastern time (US entrants only)

Last year Decadent Industries designer Nikki B. had just about every young and trendy curvy girl in a frenzy over her fabulous colorful printed leggings. Well, Nikki B. is back with her summer collection. The Decadent Industries designer has debuted her summer 2011 line which speaks to the fun and colorful spirit of the plus size curvy girl. Go to Talbots to check out these pieces

Back in the day Avenue, Ashley Stewart, Lane Bryant, and Talbots were the only places that a plus size woman could get her fashion fix. Each of these brands attracted their own style of customer. While Ashley Stewart and Lane Bryant focused on keeping up with the trends, Avenue and Talbots catered more to the suburban, casual, conservative woman. I remember back in the late 90's to early 2000's going into the Avenue store and seeing a myriad of floor length floral dresses, hi cut v-neck t-shirts with no shape, and bland washed mom jeans that flattered no one. I immediately walked out and vowed to never return again.

Walking into Talbots immediately made you feel like this is for the more mature woman, a woman of a certain age. Their stores were filled with ill fitting button ups, so, so dresses, and safari style jackets. While I can go on and on about the old styles of Avenue and Talbots, I want to focus on the new changes these two brands have made and how they have caught up with the times.

These days plus size women are proud of their bodies and are demanding on trend styles from old school plus size brands. A few weeks ago I told you about the changes that Ashley Stewart has made (See post here) and last year during the Lane Bryant blogger conference, I told you about all the style changes they were planning to make (which you've seen already).

Talbolts announced last year that they were revamping their brand to attract younger customers (See post here), while there were concerns of abandoning their classic aesthetic from loyal customers, Talbots believed that they needed to complete an image and merchandise overhaul that attracted a younger customer in order to boost sales. We couldn't have agreed more.  After slowly but surely incorporating new trendier and modern styles we think that Talbots is on the right track. They have adopted more of a chic and modern style. Just looking at the pieces in the above feature shows that they are paying attention to the trends but are still keeping up with the brands classic looks. They've even boosted up their plus size styles too by including striped dresses, trouser jeans, ruffled tanks, and fitted pants. We like that they tapped plus size models Ashley Graham and Tara Lynn to showcase the various styles they offer. Talbots plus sizes goes from a 12W-24W and their misses goes from a 2-20. We like that!

Go to Avenue to check out these pieces

Avenue has also jumped on the band wagon of a style makeover. They traded in their oversized unflattering t-shirts, mom jeans, and frumpy floral dresses for feminine girlie dresses in fun prints and modern details like draping and pleating. They've even added a pretty nice selection of shoes which include stacked heels, wedges, and flats, which all come in an assortment of embossed snakeskin prints, suede, and faux leather looks. You will also appreciate that their shoes range from a size 7-13 and come in wide widths.

While you may not wear everything from these two brands you do have to appreciate the effort that they're making to provide plus size women with stylish body loving clothes. All we have to say is keep up the good work.

What do you think of Avenue's and Talbot's revamped style?

There are so many summer/spring trends out right now, we can barely keep up. The trend we are zeroing in on right now is the crochet trend. It all started with a mindless trip to H&M where I spotted a super cute blush pink crochet knit top. I picked it up and walked over to a line that had about 30 people on it. Already tired, I put the top down and said, I'll come back tomorrow. Do I need to continue on for you to figure out that it was not there the next day? Well, no, it wasn't. I asked a sales girl who was wearing one, if they had anymore left and she said, they sold out. Since then, I've been on the hunt for crochet. Whether it's a top, dress, or shoes, I want it and I've found a few plus size curvy girl pieces for you to get in on the trend too.

The cool thing about crochet is that when you mix it with different textures or casual pieces you wind up creating a pretty cool and unique look. I loved Rachel Roy's dark blue crochet dress for her spring 2011 collection. It was so chic. Catherine Malandrino's designs are always feminine and sexy. I fell inlove with her floor length cream colored crochet dress from her spring 2011 collection. It made me want to put a feather in my hair and dance the night away.

When it comes to trying out this trend we suggest the following:

Pair a cropped crochet top with denim cut offs for a casual day of shopping or sight seeing.

-Try a sexy body skimming crochet dress in a bright color for a fun and chic spring look.

-Wear a crochet tunic over a slip or tank dress.

-A crochet vest also looks good with denim shorts complete with a white t-shirt and boyfriend jeans. Top that look off with a fedora.

-Try a colored tank or bra (if you dare) under a crochet top.

-Not really into the trend, then go for a pair of crochet espadrilles.

Will you be trying out this trend?
Hey curvy girls all over the world,
I finally can share the exciting news that I've held secret for the past couple of months. I was contacted by Playtex and asked to be their new Playtex Strap Solutions Ambassador and I'm so excited. You're probably thinking, sounds good, but what does it mean? Well, as a Strap Solutions Ambassador I will be given Playtex bras to review to share my personal insights and opinions about new products. The program is an initiative by Playtex to provide women with strap and fit solutions to various bra issues as well as highlight new products.

If you have seen any of the new Playtex commercials you know that they are focusing on creating straps that are comfortable and that doesn't dig into your skin or seductively and annoyingly slide off your shoulder. If you are a woman with ample bosoms then you know exactly what I'm talking about. When I think of Playtex bra's I think of the everyday bra. The bra that gets you through your week. When it comes to everyday bra's it's important to have one that is primarily comfortable and one that is really supportive. Playtex has been one of those brands that continuously comes out with new products to meet those everyday bra needs.

In addition to reviewing products and sharing my thoughts, I will also be rewarding you my faithful readers with product giveaways for you to share your thoughts and opinions about the products. As you all know, I love when brands actually show that they care about how well their products work and how their product makes their customers feel and that's exactly why Playtex is doing this program.

As hard as it is to find the perfect fitting pants, it's just as hard to find the right bra that has comfortable straps and the Strap Solution program will allow me to help you find the right strap solution for you.

You can expect to see my first official post within the next week. So, stay tuned.

Checkout the Playtex website for more information on their new strap solutions bra's HERE

*Please note that I am being monetarily compensated for being part of this program.

It's no secret that everyone is loving curvy women these days. In our opinion, what's not to love? A voluptuous body is strong and sexy, which is why we love Vogue Italia's June issue that features some of the creme de la creme of curvy models. The  June issue features models Marquita Pring, Tara Lynn, Candice Huffine, and Robin Lawley. The editorial is titled Belle Vere and is portrayed by Steven Meisel. We love the sexual and sensual looks of the curvy plus size models who are seductively dressed in top designer brands like Dolce & Gabbana, Agent Provacateur, and Givenchy.

To see curvy and plus size women being viewed as sexy and seductive is a wonderful thing. We think editorials like this are truly powerful visual tools that help women become a little more comfortable, accepting, and dare we say proud of their curves, rolls and all.

Check out a few shots from the editorial.

Hey curvy girls all over the world,
Today's Stylish Curves of the day is Myeshia. When it comes to embracing her curves, here is what Myeshia had to say:

My secret to embracing my curves is being confident and comfortable with myself and my body! When you begin to embrace your curves, you will start to stand a little taller and show more confidence that will surely radiate to others.
My goal over at http://full-figureddiva.blogspot.com/ is to inspire others to BE PROUD and BE YOU regardless of your size. Realize that the female body is an amazing thing, and start loving and appreciating your curves. Curves are beautiful Divas....so ROCK what you've got! I know I do!
Myeshia's fashion tip to live by is:  To look for styles that suit my figure, not just whatever is fashionable. I always try on clothes open minded and see what looks good on me rather than always buying the same size.

If you have a "strong point" show it off and be BOLD! Smile and walk with confidence! Remember Divas.....our true strength lies in our femininity not our size...so be CONFIDENT be TRUE be YOU!

Thanks Myeshia and I looove that pink knit top.

What do you think about Myeshia's style?
