Hey curvy girls all over the world,
Right now I am into dressing down my dressier pieces. One of the ways I am doing that is by rocking my ultra feminine pieces with denim. Previously I wore my sequin skirt during the day with  a denim tie neck blouse (seen here) for a more casual look. The same goes for this polka dot prom dress from Evans. I really didn't feel like it was a prom dress but I thought it was girlie and dressy enough to wear to a wedding or those fancy smancy luncheons. However, being the true Brooklyn girl that I am, I wanted to wear my girlie dress just to wear it. I have no problem walking the streets of NYC all dressed up for no reason, but with this dress, I wanted to wear a casual piece with it to create a cool and cute look.

I thought a denim jacket would be a no brainer piece to create a cool not so precious girlie look. To add another element of coolness, I wore my cat eye sunglasses. I thought my pink peep toes would be a great pop of color against the black and white dress and it makes the look a tad bit more interesting. Isn't that what shoes are for?

Hey curvy girls all over the world,
Have you ever noticed when fall rolls around one of the fastest items to sell out in a store is a denim jacket. You would think there would be loads of this item left in stores. Nope! I can't tell you how  many times I've been on the hunt for a denim jacket or vest only to be disappointed by my size being sold out or the store being completely sold out. The denim jacket is another wardrobe staple that every girl should have. We love the different spins brands have put on the denim jacket. Old Navy's collarless denim jacket is chic and refreshing and the nearly sold out City Chic and Dorothy Perkins denim vests have an effortless cool effect.

I am not going to bore you with the myriad of ways you can wear one because you  already know, right!? Instead SC just wants to share with you a few plus size friendly styles that are available now.

Hey curvy girls all over the world,
I've said countless times, I am a sucker for tie neck blouses. When I saw this tie neck blouse at the Gap at the beginning of spring, I just knew I had to have it.The last time I wore it was with a pair of denim skinny jeans and a pink blazer (Seen here). Since this week is all about denim for the plus size curvy girl, I decided to show you how I like to rock my denim shirt. I love denim on denim and I love denim with sequins. I'm the kind of girl who likes to dress up, but sometimes I don't want to reserve my dressier pieces just for evening.

A great way to wear my dressier pieces during the day is pairing them with casual pieces. Remember J. Crews creative Director Jenna Lyons on Oprah with the striped shirt and sequin pants? That to me was a perfect example of mixing casual and dressy. I have not worn my Calvin Klein sequin skirt in awhile and I wanted to wear it during the day. Since it's denim week on SC, I thought putting my tie neck blouse with my black sequin skirt would be a chic no brainer look. I wore it with one of my favorite pairs of shoes, my lace peeptoe booties to add a little edginess to the mix. The juxtaposition of casual pieces and dressy pieces always makes for an easy chic look.

How do you wear your denim shirts?

Hey curvy girls all over the world,
Molly Sims was spotted looking summer chic in an orange collarless jacket, off white/cream dress, and grey side bow pumps. Molly Sims style has always been effortless chic. She knows her body and dresses it well. We love that Molly's look has a minimalist feel to it. The orange jacket is on point with the current color trend, remember SC told you orange is the new black (Read here). The collarless jacket is a refreshing change from the regular blazer. It's what makes the outfit. A light colored flowy dress that hits above the knee is perfect for summer and makes the look fun and youthful. The side bow shoes are sweet and they offer a comfortable balance to the short dress.

Molly kept accessories simple with a multi chain necklace and cocktail ring. This is definitely one of those looks where simple pieces pack a lot of punch.

Hey curvy girls all over the world,
This week is SC's denim week. All week long a post or two will be dedicated to what's hot and new in denim. To be honest, there is nothing really new in denim everything that was popular for the past two years  is still just as popular today as it was back in 2009. We are still rocking last year's boyfriend jeans, skinny jeans, and colored denim. Yes, flare leg and wide leg jeans are a popular trend right now, but, as far as I can think back, when were they not. I've been rocking mine for years and I am quite sure you have to.

Today is all about the ever so cool and chic denim shirt. In my opinion, it's definitely not a trend and truly needs to be dubbed a wardrobe staple. One of the things I like most about denim shirts is how they can instantly make those nighttime pieces work for day.

Here's a few of SC's tips on rocking the denim shirt:

-Pairing a denim shirt with a sequin skirt or dress pants automatically makes those precious dressy items no to so precious. It also adds a cool factor your look.

-We love a light denim shirt paired with dark blue jeans or black for a no brainer put together chic look.

- Leave a denim shirt open over a t-shirt dress for a casual look.

-For a girlie  take try tucking a denim dress into a floral a-line or flair skirt.

-Don't be afraid to hit up the mens department for denim shirts. The oversized fit just makes the look that much cooler.
Whichever way you choose to rock a denim shirt, we are sure you'll look great in it.

If you're like us, sometimes we need visual inspiration, so check out some of our favorite celebs take on the denim shirt.

Ashley Olsen sans the dark blue denim and rocks black skinny jeans with her denim shirt

Take a cue from Drew Barrymore and try a bohemian look with a long skirt and wide belt

Go for a youthful yet sexy chic look like Rihanna and rock your denim shirt with a colored mini skirt and pointy toe heels.

For an over the top denim look go all out with a denim jacket, shirt, and boyfriend jeans, like the model from Chanel's runway.

Stay tuned for my denim look, up next.

Hey curvy girls all over the world,
I wanted to share with you one of my fave purchases from ReDress NYC this summer. As many of you know, ReDress is one of my favorite spots to shop at. I got this black ruched deep v- neck dress which I absolutely love. It's one of those body con dresses that makes you proud of your shape.
I wore it with my blush suede pumps from Steve Madden and a heart and key charm necklace gifted from Sonsi.

Hey curvy girls all over the world,
Evans has released a few snapshots of what's to come from their fall collection due out late September. It looks like they will be continuing the maxi skirt trend, they've added a luxe looking faux fur coat, and romantic dresses with a color palette of crimson, black, and tan.

Check back for more details about the fall collection next month.

Hey curvy girls around the world,
Today was a much better day than yesterday, the day before, and the day before that. I actually had a little pep in my step. My office look today was all about pleated pants and a ruffled neck shirt. Two of my favorite styles. These pants are actually paperbag waist pants which I have been coveting for about two years. Thanks to Forever21 I now have a pair. I love pants that are unique in design and its very rare that plus size designers make pants that aren't bootcut or straight leg. There is just something so chic about pleated ankle pants.

I wore the pants with my black and white polka dot ruffled neck top from Fashion to Figure. This top has seriously saved me on those work days when I feel like I have nothing to wear. Right now these pink peeptoe BCBGeneration pumps are on heavy rotation. I have been wearing them everyday because they go with everything.

I wanted to get a picture outside but, by the time I got off work it started pouring. I'm hoping tomorrow will be a better brighter day.

Hey curvy girls all over the world,
Fellow curvy girl and soul crooner Adele snags the cover of Elle Quebec's September issue. We all know gracing the cover of  a September issue of any magazine is a coveted spot. We love that magazines are acknowledging Adele's beauty. Let's face it, people are dropping thousands of dollars to get those full lips and plump cheeks. What we would like to see is an actual full body fashion spread featuring the singer in some haute looks. Is that too much to ask?

Nevertheless, the British beauty looks lovely on the cover and she was shot by photographer Simon Emmett.

What do you think about Adele's cover look?

Hey curvy girls all over the world,

Hey curvy girls all over the world,
I feel like I have been in such a funky mood lately. I don't know what it is but, I definitely need to shake it. I've been ordering online like crazy, staying up past my bedtime (yes, I do have one), and eating junk food more than I need to be. This weekend, I decided to get up and get out, and get some fresh air. I didn't feel like doing my hair so I threw on my straw fedora from H&M. One of the things I ordered online was this open weave knit over sized sweater from Old Navy (I told you guys don't sleep on Old Navy). I saw it in the store a few months ago, but they didn't have my size. While online shopping, I saw it again and immediately added to my bag. I've been on the hunt for a crochet knit top all summer. Remember my post on it back in June? Check it out here

This one actually runs pretty big and is cropped. However I liked the long off the shoulder effect the bigger size gave so, I kept it.

I wore my white skinnies with the sweater and my favorite tan perforated sandals from Enzo Angiolini. I thought it was a cool and casual Saturday afternoon outfit.

Hey curvy girls all over the world,
Our favorite curvy fashionista Amber Riley was spotted looking super chic and rock star-ish in what we believe is a sequin zipper front jacket from Arden B. Amber is no stranger to shopping in straight size stores and doesn't limit herself to just plus size brands. She is a curvy girl who knows her shape. Arden B goes up to a size XL in a number of their pieces. Somethings are cut on the bias or oversized and can easily and comfortably fit your curves.

Hey curvy girls all over the world,
Although summer is winding down, the temperatures are rising and it is seriously hot outside. We don't know about you, but when it gets like this, we want to wear the least amount of clothing possible just to stay cool. Taylor Swift has such a girlie style. She literally lives in dresses. Recently she was spotted wearing a super cute yellow summer dress. As usual she looked sweet, comfortable, and most importantly cool. We like that Taylor went for a bright lip, simple flats, and a pair of over sized shades. A perfect summer look for those 90 degree days.

Need a look that keeps you cool during these final hooooot summer days, then take a cue from Taylor and get her look for your curves with this ASOS Curve ruched bust dress, Me too green espadrilles, Aldo's corn straw bag, Jessica Simpson oversize sunglasses , and MAC red lipstick.

Hey curvy girls all over the world,
It's very rare that I go a day without blogging. When I do, that means my full time job has taken over my personal time. If you've noticed, I haven't blogged since Wednesday and it partially had to do with work and it partially had to do with me considering if I should continue blogging. I really needed the time off to step back and decide whether or not to continue. For now, I will, because I have obligations and partnerships. So, next week, hopefully I will be back with regular posts. Sometimes you just need a break from things to realize how important it is to you or how much you miss it.

I thought I would share with you today's outfit. It's all about color blocking. My favorite trend of the year. I created my look with this ruffled collar top from Avenue via Jessica London and this purple pencil skirt from Faith21 Plus. I completed my look with a pair of Fuchsia peep toe pumps from BCBG and gold bracelets from Loft and Ashley Stewart. I love the color combination of the rich purple and orange and you already know that I am a sucker for ruffled tops.

This is my look for today and thanks so much for reading this blog and allowing me to share my thoughts and little tidbits about fashion with you.

Hey curvy girls all over the world,
Remember a few months back I wrote about the retro dress company Stop Staring (Read Here)? Well, I was alerted by the brand that if you are looking for sizes above an 18 they have a partnership with Torrid selling some of their dresses up to a size 26. Some of you may have seen them, but for those of you who have not, check out the 3 styles that Torrid is carrying from the Stop Staring company.

See them HERE

Hey curvy girls all over the world,
I'm featured on Evans blog today. They were so kind to include me in a product review project. They sent me two items from their fall collection. One of the items I received was this leopard print tunic. You know that was right up my alley. They asked me to create 3 looks with the tunic. I created looks that would work for my everyday life. I did an office look, a casual look, and a going out look.

You can check out the written review Here

You can purchase the tunic HERE. It fits true to size.

Hey curvy girls all over the world,
Looks like one of our favorite curvy girls Toccara Jones is getting her pretty girl swag on. This month she will be finding love on the 2nd season of TV one's The Ultimate Merger (Airs on Aug. 4th at 9pm). Yes, the reality show that didn't find the right man for Omarosa. Hopefully Toccara will have better luck finding her tall dark and handsome man.

In addition to her new reality show Tocarra took a few sassy flicks with famed Photographer Derek Blanks. She looks absolutely dreamy in the photos and her modeling skills are developing nicely. As fans of Toccara we are loving the direction her career is going in. Since there is a lack of black plus size models it's always nice to see Toccara putting in wrok and paying her dues. All we can say is do your thing Toccara and in our Ronnie voice from The Players Club, "Make that money, don't let the money make you."

Check out Toccara's Derek Blanks photo's and tell SC what you think

Hey curvy girls around the world,
This week on the streets of NYC SC spotted curvy girl and fashion blogger Danielle while shopping at Forever21. We thought she looked super cute and shopper chic in her tap shorts and fedora. We asked Danielle where she got her look and she gave us the scoop on where she got her cute pieces.

Hey curvy girls all over the world,
Time is really flying. It's the first of the month and we are officially experiencing real summer heat. Many of you expressed how much you enjoyed reading my shop like a fashion editor challenge. I've decided not to continue the shop like a fashion editor challenge but, instead, I've chosen to share with you a few of my favorite purchases of the month. July was a very big shopping month for me. There were so many sales and discounts on new items that I couldn't resist.

While shopping at Forever21 I found this very chic and classic style polka dot tie neck blouse, cuffed denim Bermuda shorts, and a black and oatmeal striped blazer which looks so cute on. If you follow me on twitter you know that I have been tweeting about my shopping at Lord & Taylor. In addition to the items above I have also purchased this really casual and cute denim shirt dress (worn in this post) from Michael Kors, a sleek and professional chic shirt dress from Calvin Klein, and a pair of fuchsia peep toe pumps from BCBG. I also bought the Fashion to Figure orange long sleeve jersey dress that was in my What I want now post (Here). That is a sexy chic dress. Can't wait until the weather gets cool so I can wear it.  I think I have enough to keep me content for a couple of weeks.

In place of the shop like a fashion editor challenge, I will be posting once amonth my favorite purchases of the month. Let me know if I should keep this up or not.

What have you guys been buying during the summer sales?

Hey curvy girls all over the world,
The past couple of weeks have been humid and sticky. To combat the heat, besides staying in air conditioned places, I have been living in this heart printed romper. There has not been a week that I have not worn it at least once. I've dressed it up wearing it with a wide belt, perforated suede heels, and a chunky necklace. You can see the picture Here and I mainly wear it dressed down with flats or these white wedges. The romper is super comfortable and perfect to wear when running errands.
What have you been living in this summer?

Hey curvy girls all over the world,
I know you are all ready to get your weekend started and you're probably trying to figure out what to wear this weekend, but before you know it Monday will sneak up on you like a thief in the night and you'll be forced to spend part of your Sunday or early Monday morning trying to figure out what to wear. Why not get a jump start on Monday's work look and check out SC's at the office outfit idea.

Summer work wear should be easy, comfortable, and effortless. This lightweight shirt dress from CK Jeans by Calvin Klein is the perfect summer work dress for a plus size curvy girl (Comes in straight sizes and goes up to a size 3X). I actually have it myself. Neutrals are a popular trend this season and look great paired with bright colored shoes or accessories. Since neutrals are like a blank canvas pairing them with prints are just as chic as wearing bright colors. The Ivanka Trump snakeskin tote is a fun and rich looking piece to wear to the office and adds a little flair to the simple neutral dress.

I wore mine with a pair of fuchsia heels from BCBG and completed my look with gold accessories similar to these drop earrings and geo patterned bracelet. Since the dress is a branch off the Calvin Klein tree it is made of quality material. It has a silky finish. You should also know that it runs big so you may have to size down.

*Reminder- SC is still accepting photos of you in your best summer office looks. You can send photos to stylishcurves@gmail.com.
