Hey curvy girls all over the world,
Well, Fall is officially here and I am ready to dive into  all the trends and updates on classic styles. For me fall is about the art of dressing. Putting pieces together to make a statement as well as an amazing outfit. Much like the new year, the fall season is about new beginnings. This year I want to get into more prints and patterns which was a major trend on the fall and spring 2012 runways. I want pieces that make a statement but still speak to my classic personal style. As you all know, I like to look and feel put together. It empowers me when I know I actually took the time to think about what I'm wearing and the outcome is wonderful.

Some of the trends I will be stocking up on are tie neck and ruffled neck blouses, colored pants, leather, and animal prints. These are just a few items that I've been adding to my wishlists. There are tons more that includes sparkles and dope shoes. So stay tuned for more of What I Want Now.

Hey curvy girls all over the world,
Have any of you tried a pair of high waisted or flare leg jeans yet? Well, I did and I love them. I have always been a lover of pants or jeans that people say big girls should not be wearing. I can't help what my eye is drawn to. Back in the summer time I scored these high waisted flare leg jeans from Old Navy. I hate to sound like a broken record, but, Old Navy every now and again offers a few fashion gems and I always keep my eyes peeled for them. These high waisted flare legs are not from their plus line and I was able to go a size down because they were extra stretchy.
I am a fan of the high waist jean because the 70's is one of my favorite fashion era's. I love to see old pictures of my mom with her jeans on and a tie neck blouse or t-shirt tucked in with super duper high platforms on. I rocked the jeans with a pink silk blend tie neck blouse from my fave boutique in Brooklyn, which is Redressnyc. I couldn't wait until the weather got a little breezy just so I could wear it.
I completed my look with my old faithful Enzo Angiolini tan perforated slingbacks and my straw bag. I accessorized with a pair of chandelier earrings from Forever21, cuff from Loft (gifted), and my Michael Kors watch.

I dabbed on some purple Urban Decay eyeshadow and gave my lips some color with MAC's "Girl About Town." I felt 70's chic in this look and have so many plans for these high waisted jeans.

Are you into the highwaisted or flare leg jeans?

Hey curvy girls all over the world,
Fall is producing some rather luxe and bold trends. One trend that just seems to be popping up everywhere is the leather skirt trend. It began blooming last year and is now a full fledged trend. We love the leather skirt for its chicness, luxe feel, and understated sexiness. In fall of 2010, celebrities like Gwyneth Paltrow, Alexa Chung, Rihanna, and Kerry Washington have all embraced the trend. Leather skirts are coming in the form of pleated, pencil, and mini styles. We love it paired with a blazer, chunky sweater, or for a semi glam chic look pair your pencil skirts with a chiffon or sheer top.

Designers like Oscar De la Renta, Zac Posen, and Cynthia Steffe created their own versions of the leather skirt during the Fall 2011 fashion shows. They all showed how universal and easy the style could be worn. SC has taken the liberty to find a few styles for you that work for your plus size curves. Now that this trend is in full bloom. I'm hoping a few of the trendy plus size brands create a pleated leather skirt and a tie waist one like Oscar De La Renta.

PS- I actually have the Jessica London leather skirt (#3) in black and it is definitely a winner and fits true to size.

If you need a little outfit inspiration check out these celebrity looks:

Try a hip length blazer like Gwyneth

Kerry looks very classy and chic in a sheer white blouse

Agynes Deyns goes rocker chic by pairing her leather pencil skirt with a fitted tee

Alexa Chung looks casual cool in a mini leather skirt and angora sweater

Courtney Kardashian paired her pleated leather skirt with a white button up and black neck tie for a school girl look.

Hey curvy girls all over the world,
We all know how scary it can be to go on a date with someone you've never met or someone you want to get to know a little more. Twitter follower Shanae tweeted SC and said "I am getting back on the dating scene, and looking for cute outfit ideas. Have any?" Yes Shanae, we do have a few in mind.

When it comes to finding that right outfit it's all about how you want to feel on that date. There is no rule book on what to wear on a date. However you want to make sure that you're leaving things to the imagination while showing what a knockout you are.

Everyone has different comfort levels when it comes to going on dates. Since you're getting back on the dating scene we say stick to what you know when it comes to choosing the right outfit. For weekend dates you can play around and go for an understated sexy look. Sometimes dates happen during the week and you may just want to play it cool. That's when you reach for your trusty blazer and jeans that will make all the boys want to come to your yard, a la Kelis.

Whatever look you go for just make sure you wear pieces that add interest and make you look pulled together.

Here are a few ideas on what to wear on a date whether it's with a new man, a current man, or someone who you've taken an interest in:
Look 1
We like to call this look show him what you're working with. The animal print skirt is the standout piece because of the bold print and because it shows off your curves. We think by adding a cropped blazer with a v-neck tee pulls the look together and makes it polished. For a little attitude push the sleeves up on your jackets.

Look 2

This look to us screams girlie with a little edge. A leather jacket can instantly toughen up your feminine dresses. It will make him think, hey, she seems cool and sweet but she does have a little edge to her.

Look 3

Dorothy Perkins Blazer, Marc Jacobs bag, Levis curve jeans, Juicy Couture watch,  ASOS pussy bow blouse, lancome eyeshadow, Vince Camuto sandals, swarovski bamboo earrings
Our final look is for the casual date where the two of you catch a movie or the kind of date that leaves you talking for hours while drinking a skinny vanilla latte from Starbucks. It shows that you have a sophistication about you but the pops of color in the shoes and accessories lets him know you do like to have fun.

Well, thanks for reaching out Shanae and we hope these looks help you draw inspiration and create a winning date look for you.

Hey curvy girls all over the world,
The weather this weekend was sunny and breezy. I felt like wearing my ruffled hem Angel Ribbons tunic gifted to me from Simply Be. As you all know next to leopard print, I am obsessed with anything that has ruffles.  I first saw this dress on the back of the Simply Be fall catalog. It's really a tunic but covers the rear enough (for me at least) to wear as a dress. I love the billowy elastic 3/4 sleeves and I like that its a little loose. It fits a little like a baby doll dress.

I've had the dress for about 2 weeks, but I waited to wear it because I was on the hunt for a wide brim floppy hat, which is on trend this fall season. They are everywhere. During Fashions Night Out I participated in JCPenney and People Style Watch's Miss for a Hit. I brought in a dress (that I should have never bought) as my miss and I received a $25 giftcard from JCP to purchase something that would be considered  a hit. I found this tan floppy hat and immediately thought to get it so I could wear it with my Simply Be dress. This dress is versatile. It can be dresses up with lots of jewels and a pair of sexy heels and it can be dressed down with a pair of tall flat boots and black tights. I plan to get tons of wear out of this piece.

Hey curvy girls all over the world,
Last night Emmy's brought out some of our favorite curvy, plus size, and straight size celebrities. Let's take a look at what they wore.

First up, Christina Hendrick's went for her signature, look at my boobs dress. Although the dress is very glam, I love when Christina wears color. I like the elegance of this dress but, I am not smitten with it on her.

Amber Riley hit the red carpet in a totally different  look. She rocked a short layered bob and an embellished lavender ruched floor length gown. I am a little on the fence about the dress, but I like the new do.

Bridesmaids and Mike & Molly star Melissa McCarthy wore a dark purple deep V gown that she designed herself, accented with a gold link necklace.

Sofia Vergara looked absolutely fabulous in a coral one shoulder gown. I just love how the color highlights her skin and the oversized earrings were a perfect compliment.

The best dressed to me last night was Vampire Diaries star Nina Dobrey. That dress was everything and more and I love how she kept the accessories simple.

Kate Winslet also went for red last night in a low cut floor length gown. The look came off very sexy and chic.

Former curvy girl Kelly Osbourne looked lovely and so pretty in an eggplant colored one shoulder ruched gown. The matching accessories worked with her look.

Now it's your turn, which celeb rocked the Emmy's for you?

Hey curvy girls all over the world,
In the midst of catching shows at Lincoln Center I was invited to view plus size designer SK Wilbur's s/s 2012 collection in midtown.  I have to be honest, I got there late and missed the show. However, I managed to snap a few pictures of the models still in their dresses after the show.

Wilbur's spring collection entitled "Out Of The Dark" offered ladylike sophisticated styles punctuated with edgy details. His spring color palette consisted of white, black, and gray, with color splashes of tomato and citrine. The classic simplistic styles were adorned with edgy details like exposed zippers, sculptural and mesh shoulders, leather trimmed zip belts, as well as classic pleating and draping. The details are what makes the collection standout. The high neck dresses were complimented with bold necklaces from Lee Angel, and over sized clutches designed by Wilbur himself for an upcoming collection call Garden Variety.

Wilbur wanted his spring collection to evoke a feeling of renewal and rejuvenation. According to Wilbur, "A time to cast off heavy burdens." The spring collection presented a balance of sophisticated styles mixed with current trends.

What do you think of the SK Wilbur Spring 2011 collection?

Hey curvy girls all over the world,
First, let me say thank you for all the love on th midi dress post (Seen Here). I think I am going to play around more with that trend. Yesterday, I was cleaning out my closet and I came across my floral ruffled skirt that I totally forgot about. It was hanging in the back. I bought it during the winter time at Forever21. When I saw it again, I said, hey, I forgot about you. I decided to put it on and wear it with my favorite blazer. Yup, the pink one from the OSP collection.
The pink blazer was the perfect backdrop to the short floral flirty skirt. I wore my gray perforated suede slingbacks from Enzo and completed the look with gifted jewels from Avenue and a pair of purple Aviator's aka my cop sunnies.

Hey curvy girls all over the world,
You know I am a lover of Century21. I've spent many lunch breaks in their shoe department looking for the best designer deals. This year Century 21 is celebrating their 50th anniversary.  That means they’re celebrating five decades of some of the most chicest, hair raising, WTH styles that have become part of pop culture and for many of us styles that tell the stories of our lives. I'm so honored that they have selected me as one of their top 5 blogger's and have asked me to talk about one of the most memorable decades of fashion, The 80's! 80's fashion had so many elements.

When I think 80's, I think about the TV show Dynasty and the glamour it brought to the 80's. I remember when one of my favorite characters Alexis Carrington (Joan Collins) would wear a chic draped ruched heavy shoulder pad dress or her pencil skirt suits complete with a wide brim hat and glamorous accessories.

I also thought about the emergence of tough leather zippered jackets just like the one  Michael Jackson wore in his Thriller video.

and who could forget about Madonna the queen of 80’s style who rocked lace fingerless gloves to create a signature look.

I liked 80’s fashion for its boldness, fearlessness, and sometimes rebellious nature. It was an era in fashion where everyone didn’t look like they stepped off the set of an old Hollywood movie. 80’s fashion was about change. It was a time when women were really starting to wear the pants not just at home but at the office, when good girls wanted to go bad, and a time when girls wanted to just have fun and rock out in their pink leg warmers.

You can look at just about any designer collection and see the return of 80’s style.
Back in 2009 Balmain had everyone in a frenzy over his strong shouldered jackets. Wide brim hats were the major must have accessory this past summer, For fall 2011 brooches will be one of the ultimate accessories to have. Although leg warmers are on hiatus, leggings are still reigning supreme.

This fall season high waisted pants and sleek long blazers are making a major return. Although I feel like the 80’s was about making a statement. It did have its share of girlie glamour. Think peplum and ruched dresses, bright floral dresses, ruffled hem mini’s, and the occasional tutu.

Whether you loved or loathed the 80’s designers are bringing them back one piece at a time.

D&G brings back 80’s punk rock, Band of Outsiders revisits the late 80’s grunge look which became more popular in the  early 90's, and Stella McCartney goes peplum crazy for fall 2011.

What were some of your favorite 80's styles?
