Hey curvy girls all over the world,
Back in October of 2011 I was invited to checkout Frye's 2012 spring collection. Frye has really transformed their brand from just quality leather boots. Frye has taken a step in the right direction of becoming a multi faceted footwear brand. Their spring 2012 collection offered everything from woven t-strap sandals to colorful moccasins and of course sueded stacked heel boots (they couldn't leave those out) . The shoes character came alive in the details which consisted in some styles being made with three different dyes and crystal embellishments. Not only did they accelarate their footwear collection they amped it up in the handbag area as well by producing leather and canvas totes and studded clutches.

Take a look at what to expect from Frye's spring collection. You can also checkout their website HERE for more current styles.

Hey curvy girls all over the world,
We are kicking off this Tuesday morning with Stylish Curves of the day. Today's curvy girl is Tammie from Beyonce's home state, Texas. When it comes to embracing her curves, here's what she has to say:
I'm Tammie from Texas. I grew up in Dallas, but I now reside in South Texas near the coast.
My Blog is Called My Aura: http://www.tammie-myaura.blogspot.com
My Motto is "Truthful, Eclectic, Multifaceted, PERIOD." © -2011
Embracing my curves, for me, is about self-worth.I'm sure like a lot of individuals, there were times in my life where this aspect of my overall being was challenged.

My daddy always told me, "The best way to improve your self esteem is through achievement..."
I do this by setting personal goals for myself and working to achieve those goals.
Also, it is old wisdom that the way you feel about yourself radiates in the way you carry yourself.
Thus it's a goal of mine to portray my uniqueness, creativity, maturity, and positive self image in the way I carry myself.
For me, this includes exercising on a regular basis to look great at my size and trying to watch what I eat as well.

Knowing myself, I don't feel as good about Tammie as I possibly can when I feel I am letting myself go.
I work at maintaining my body and paying attention to the way my clothes fit, so I can continue to feel confident about my curves.
I guess you can say that I am a work in progress...And I don't mind it one bit!

Thanks Tammie! You have some chic dresses and you wear them well.

What do you guys think of Tammie's style?

Hey curvy girls all over the world,
This weekend on Twitter I received a message from a reader asking the following,
"How can you advertise ModCloth on your site? Their sizes don't go beyond 14 - and it's a SMALL 14"

I responded to the longtime follower that ModCloth does indeed carry plus sizes and they have been doing so for some time now.

Modcloth is a great place to shop for vintage like items or modern day looks with a retro feel. About 2 years ago ModCloth expanded their sizes to include plus. You can actually visit their site and search by size. Last year they revealed uber cute sexy retro swimsuits for the curvy girl as well as an extensive collection of plus size dresses and skirts.

In addition to fab apparel, they offer printed tights and lingerie for plus sizes.

Now, their sizing is a little different than what's considered standard. A 1X is a size 16 with a waist measurement of  35-36 inches and a 3X has a waist measurement of 40-41 inches. So please do checkout their size chart when ordering.

For more plus size styles checkout their website HERE

Hey curvy girls all over the world,
I have a sheer fondness for sophisticated fabrics like tweed and mixing them with trendy or edgier pieces. The combination of classic and trendy speaks to who I really am inside.
While shopping Nordstrom's massive sale at the end of 2011 I came across this tweed cape. It was something so classy and modern about it. It screamed Alissa buy me.

I happily obliged and am so happy I did. I utilized it to wear to work over skirts and dresses. This time I decided to rock it with black skinny pants from Faith21 Plus, a black turtleneck from Banana Republic, and one of my favorite pair of boots from Jessica Simpson.
While the ensemble is simplistic it speaks volumes to my personality. I'm a little classy, a little edgy, and the pink shades represent the colorful or shall I say fun side of me.
I finished off my look with silver bangles from Ashley Stewart, a leather chain cuff , and my go to black bag from Loft.
That's it for me. Enjoy your weekend.

Hey curvy girls all over the world,
We are back with Stylish Curves of the day. Today's entry is from Tainisel from B'More by way of Boston , MA. When it comes to her curves, here's what she has to say:

Like most women, my journey to embracing and loving my body has been a long and tumultuous one. I studied ballet for most of my life and with its skewed aesthetic it planted seeds of low self esteem and a yearning to be thin.

When the need to lose weight overpowered the love I had for dance, I decided to change. Gaining confidence in my passion, talent and body made me a better dancer and truly a better person.
I have since then learned to accentuate my best feature (my dancer legs) and to find clothes that flatter my apple like shape. I have always loved bold colors and sparkling, and I don't allow being plus sized stop me from sparkling.
I embrace my curves by knowing what flatters my shape and having a great tailor (necessary when you are 5'2). Confidence is key, I let my personality shine through the clothes and accessories I wear.  Most importantly I wear a smile on my face, It is the greatest accessory we have!

Thanks Tainisel! That gold floral dress is super cute.

What do you guys think of Tainisel's style?

Hey curvy girls all over the world,
It's been awhile since I've been on the social scene for blogging events. This week I decided to get back on my social grind and my first social event for 2012 was Simply Be's blogger party for their Spring 2012 collection. Like many blogging events the parties are always in Manhattan. Simply Be chose Pranna restaurant on Madison avenue to host their blogger event.

Simply Be really knows how to throw a party. They kept the drinks flowing and the appetizers were not what we typically see at events. There was no sliced duck wrapped in lettuce to be found.

There was a clothing rack filled with ruffled dresses, sheer tops, and structured jackets from the spring collection.

A white tuxedo jacket was everyone's favorite item

And an open knit sweater was pretty popular too.

The event was filled with stylish bloggers, contest winners, models, and PR girls

I rocked a leopard print wrap dress from ASOS Curve, cropped blazer from Torrid, and my suede ankle boots from Bakers.

Now checkout my favorites from the spring collection
