Hey curvy girls all over the world
I am officially through with winter and can't wait for spring to arrive. Designers sent a myriad of fun spring styles down the runway and the one that is making a strong comeback is the hi-low hem aka the shirt tail aka the asymmetrical. The hi-low hem gives an understated sexy and chic vibe. If you're looking to add a fashion forward piece to your wardrobe, the hi-low hem is the right piece to give you a little edge. Rock a hi- low hem skirt with a printed tank or party the night away in an uber dashing hi-low hem dress complete with killer heels.

For plus size girls the hi-low hem is perfect for embracing your curvy legs and thighs. Yes, you read that right. Embrace those legs and thick thighs. You can find this trend where the lower hem hits at the knee so if you don't want to show off too much leg an at the knee cut will allow you to take part in the trend and still feel comfortable. This fun and flirty trend will liven up your spring wardrobe.

Will you be trying the hi-low hem trend?

Hey curvy girls all over the world,
I am still cranking out show reviews but I do have a little inside scoop from some of the fashion shows I attended. My first show was Christian Siriano. Christian went for more of a deep dark collection for the upcoming fall season. I caught up with Chrisitan backstage at his show and got the scoop on the inspiration behind his collection.
He also invited Academy award nominee Gabourey Sidibe to his show and designed a dress AND Shoes specifically for her. Could there be a plus size line in the future? Checkout the video below to find out.

For my full review of Christian Siriano's fall collection checkout Haute Diary HERE and for exclusive photos follow Stylish Curves on Facebook HERE . You can also checkout my outube channel HERE
Hey curvy girls all over the world,
It looks like birthday girl Amber Riley rocked a lace dress with mesh skirt from none other than ASOS Curve. The exclusive lace dress features a high neckline, fitted seams, a high waist, full skirt, and  keyhole detailing at the back. Amber looked so young anf fresh with glowing skin at her Las Vegas celebration. We love how Amber is always playful and chic with her looks. A perfect party dress.

Hey curvy girls all over the world,
We are kicking off this Monday morning with a look back at some of our favorite curvy and plus size celebrities who were on the scene this past weekend. With the NAACP awards and birthday parties celebrities hit the red carpet in some of their finest.

Let's take a look at who rocked the carpet:
As usual, Amber Riley stuns in a deep blue sequin one shoulder dress to the NAACP awards

Jill Scott goes for a body con lace dress, and a new do for the NAACP awards

Grammy nominee Ledisi went for a a purple one shoulder ruched floor length gown

And during fashion week, ANTM alum and Toccara Jones rocked a sleeveless printed red and black dress topped with a fur stole and leather gloves.

Birthday girl Amber Riley went for an all black sleeveless dress with a tulle skirted bottom and black boots for her Las Vegas birthday celebration.

Gabourey Sidibe also hit Las Vegas to show support for Amber's birthday party. She also went for an all black dress with silver accessories.

Which celebrity rocked it for you?

Hey curvy girls all over the world,
Breakout star Octavia Spencer has been making her red carpet rounds for her role in the hit movie "The Help." The Oscar nominated star was spotted at the Oscar's nomination luncheon rocking a David Meister black wrap jewel encrusted dress. We all know that David Meister can be a pretty penny. Octavia's dress retails for $428 at Saks. However, we found a very similar dress for under a $100.

Get Octavia's look with this London Times side ruched dress for only $98

Hey curvy girls all over the world,
It has been one heck of a week. Fashion week for me ended today and I am beat. I have a number of show reviews to write and videos to upload so stay tuned. My tripod collapsed and died so I have been unable to take pics of some of the outfits I wore. However, I was able to take a few flicks of what I wore today with the help of Cece from The Big Girl Blog, who was so sweet to hang out with me today.

I'm rocking a peplum skirt from ASOS which is super duper great and flattering. I rocked a black and white striped top from Forever21, my fave red shoes from guess and a pair of oversized earrings from Strawberry's.

Simple yet cute, right?

I also ran into fellow blogger Jessie Adore (check her blog) at the Samantha Black fashion show. We were rocking the same color palette. She looked awesome as usual.

I also ran into someone who told me that they read my blog and she wasn't even plus size. That really made my night. I hugged her like 20 times.
I went to the Levi's fall preview today and I ran into Brad Goreski aka Rachel Zoe's former assistant. He  was so nice and even gave eye contact when he spoke to me. His friend was kind enough o snap a quick picture of  us.

Well I am getting ready to hit the sack so I can have energy tomorrow to crank out these show reviews. Y'all have a good night now, ya hear. LOL!

Hey curvy girls all over the world,
While running from the office to shows and events, I managed to snap a few shots of some stylish curvy girls. Checkout these curves on the street:

Over at Christian Siriano's fall show, I spied fellow blogger Danielle of The Frugal Fashionista

I spotted Amanda at Walter's Fall preview. She was rocking a top shop dress, necklace, a vintage fur vest, and Kelsi Dagger shoes.

Also at Christian Siriano I spotted a petite and curvy stylista in a sequin dress and fur jacket

More pics and fashion show reviews coming soon so stay tuned.
Hey curvy girls all over the world,
It's here! Monif C. has unveiled her coveted swimwear collection entitled "Escape to Barbados," and it even has a lookbook featuring budding plus size model Denise Bidoe. The Resort 2012 swim collection consists of  animal prints, criss cross styles, mesh, and of course Monif's signature ruching. Like past collections, Monif's 2012 swimwear pushes the envelope when it comes to plus size women embracing their bodies. She continued with 2 pieces but this time she added solid colors. She also brought back the uber sexy fringed one piece, and she is knocking them dead with a leopard mesh one piece suit that is sure to garner major attention.

Monif has a knack for creating swimsuits that are bold, fashion forward, and always flattering. For those plus size women who like a more reserved yet stylish swimsuit, Monif has you covered with a criss cross suit with a peekaboo front. Not only are these swimsuits attractive they are designed with special features like bones on the sides of swimsuits for added bust support and power mesh tummy tuck lining in front and back of swimsuits to help give you your best look.

Doesn't these photos make you want to take a vacation ASAP. You can pre-order styles at Monif C. She sells out quickly so pre-ordering is your best bet.

Hey curvy girls all over the world,
February must be the month where curvy plus size girls are taking over. While Adele is holding us down by covering US Vogue, plus size model Tara Lynn is holding us down in France. For a second time Tara Lynn graces the March cover of French Elle. Not only is it an honor for a plus size model to grace the cover of a major fashion magazine, they've even went as far as calling Tara Lynn "The Body." A titled once held by Heidi Klum.

Tara Lynn is probably the most fuller figured of all the mainstream plus size models. She is thicker than the average working plus size model. As always this is a great thing for the plus size community. Let's hope they start to include more plus size fashion inside the magazine even when a plus size woman is not on the cover.

What do you think of Tara Lynn's cover shot and inside looks?

Hey curvy girls all over the world,
Last week was a whirlwind of parties and fashion shows. I jump started fashion week by with a personal invite to attend a special Blogher style luncheon hosted by Kathryn Finney of The Budget Fashionista and Blogher. Kathryn is the new Edito at Large for Blogher. The luncheon brought together some of the who's who of the blogging and magazine world. I was so happy that I was invited by Kathry Finney to attend this luncheon because I had a ball. It was rough getting there ( I was late) but I made it just in time to enjoy the fantastic food and sip on a number of cocktails.

It was the perfect starter to MBFW and a wonderful opportunity to chat with women who inspire me to be the best fashion writer I can be. Take a look at a few pictures from the event.
I got to take a picture with two inspirational women Kathryn Finney of  The Budget Fashionista and Patrice of Afrobella

Kathryn was such a gracious and entertaining hostess. She introduced each guest by going around the room and telling some fun facts about each guest and what they meant to her.
I spied Jenni of DIY

Toasting to meeting new people
Food and drinks were on point.

This pretty little gift was awaiting us when we sat down

Inside the purple little box was a beautiful vintage mirror

We all took a group shot at the end of the event
