Hey curvy girls all over the world,
We are kicking off this Friday with some plus size fashion fabulousness. Jibri has released photos of her spring 2012 collection and it is absolutely fire. In my opinion Jibri is one of the few plus designers that we have out there that offers fashion forward style for plus size women. For spring 2012 Jibri puts us in a tropical vacation mode with tropical fruit and flower printed strapless dresses, polka dot tops, and exaggerated blouson pants. She hits all the right color notes with bold bright orange, pink, and blue as her color palette. This collection makes me want to hit up expedia.com to book a vacay to Aruba, get my suitcase out of storage, go get my hair and nails done and be on a flight tonight because my whole vacation will be planned around each of these looks.
Well done Jibri, well done.

You can purchase jibri online at her Etsy shop Here

Hey curvy girls all over the world,
This morning I am sipping my nonfat caramel latte to the news of London based designer Mary Katrantzou possibly designing plus size clothes for Net-A-PorterNet-A-Porter is one of those fancy smancy online boutiques (which I love) that carries just about every high end designer known to man. Even if I can't purchase half of the stuff on the site it's sure nice to look at. If you've ever perused Net-A-Porter then you've seen that a few designers offer a size 14 or XXL in select styles. Well, Mary Katrantzou wants to start adding size 16 to her collections specifically for Net-A-Porter's site. What you may not know is that department stores and upscale boutiques can place orders for bigger sizes but choose not to. It looks like Mary had epiphany and realized that women over size 14 like to look nice and spend their hard earned money on nice clothes too. Here's what she had to say about adding a size 16: (Read after the photo)
“I was looking at a size 14 woman wearing our dress and I thought, ‘I can’t believe we don’t go bigger than that size!’ because she looked tiny, “I buy online–I think as a bigger size, you feel more comfortable trying things at home.”
Well, it's about time that someone gets it. Let's hope she goes through with this and maybe she will even be inspired to create a separate plus size line because just adding a 16 doesn't make it a plus size line.  Read more of the story at Fashionista

Although Kris Humphries has made a name for himself as the former Mr. Kardashian, his sister Kaela Humphries is building up her own name in the modeling industry. Kaela Humphries is the newest plus sized model signed to Ford models. Who knew that Kris had such a beautiful curvy sister?! Well the 29 year old dark haired beauty has been creating buzz for her size 16/18 voluptuous curves. With her new contract Ford is banking on her to be a major asset to their plus division. Let's hope they keep her curvy. Read More of the story at Huffington Post

Hey curvy girls all over the world,
Over the years I've gone through a number of styles and trends. Some worked out wonderfully and other looks should be abolished into the abyss forever and ever. No matter how many trends come and go I remain true to about 5 looks which I like to call my signature looks. Most girls my age are drawn to edgy fashion forward styles. I love them too but found that they work best for me when I incorporate a piece or two into my general outfits.
When I think about my own personal signature style, I know that a cropped leather or biker jacket is a must for me. My style falls more on the classic sophisticated side so a leather jacket is that piece that gives my looks a little edge and it's a much needed break from the usual suspect, the blazer.
I own about four leather jackets and I love to rock them with skirts and a simple tee or over a girlie dress. It's my version of going edgy. This weekend the weather was unseasonably warm. I decided to reach for my draped faux leather jacket (that every blogger has) and rock it with a red jersey knit pencil skirt that I got from Bloomingdale's. To keep things low key I went for a striped black and white tee and my suede ankle boots.
I love the color combo of red, black, and white. I find the combination to be quite striking. I also like to wear gold jewelry with black and red so I went for my cutout cuff , shoulder sweeping earrings, and my oversized Michael Kors watch.
This is an ensemble that I dub one of my signature looks.

Hey curvy girls all over the world,
If you've been following me for some time you know I like a cool pair of shades. I especially love colored frames. Remember my pink bumble bee ones with the tweed cape? I own a number of colored and printed sunglasses but have been on the hunt to add some black frames to my collection. I was recently contacted by GlassesUSA.com to try a pair of their glasses. I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to find a pair of cool black shades for those days when I am not looking too hot.

After searching through four pages of sunglasses I settled on the cchiali retro-styled black shades. I thought they were cute and chic looking. I loved the striped black and white detail on the legs of the glasses. It gave it a little extra pizazz so they didn't just look like ordinary black frames.

I continued to search the site and they had Eyeglasses in every size, shape, frame, and a number of well known brands like Diesel, Lucky Brand, & Calvin Klein. I do wear  prescription glasses which I rarely wear in public. I am still traumatized by being called four eyes in grade school. I know, I should be completely over it by now. However, I am going to be hitting the site up again for some more  glasses. The site is extremely easy to navigate through and buy glasses that fit your style and most importantly your budget. A number of glasses were priced under $100.

I can attest that the frames were made of high quality for the price. You should know that
Glasses.com offers

110% lowest price guarantee and a 100% satisfaction guarantee

A generous refer-a-friend program (You can get $30 for each first purchase a referred friend makes - and use the $30 towards your next pair of glasses)

A Facebook page and Twitter feed with exclusive discounts

A fun virtual mirror that allows you to "try on" your glasses before you buy them. You can even send the pictures to your friend!

So of  course I couldn't try these frames without hooking Stylish Curves readers up with a little discount.
Right now you can receive 20% off any pair of prescription eyeglasses from our iSee Eyewear collection + Free Shipping within the US (basic single-vision lenses included).

Hey curvy girls all over the world,
While doing my usual Internet window shopping I came across this this neon colorblocked side ruffled shift dress by Diane Von Furstenberg and I thought to myself this dress looks quite familiar. Then I realized, I saw an almost exact replica of this dress on Eloquii's site.

The Eloquii dress is darn near identical to the Diane Von Furstenberg. Diane has expressed numerous times about trying to protect a designers design. She's even battled Forever21 for making almost exact replica's of a few of her designs. Many consumers can't afford to drop hundreds of dollars on designer duds and are happy when lower priced brands make their own versions aka knockoffs of a designer piece. Even ASOS has an abundance of designer inspired looks for under $100.

However, I can't help but to wonder if this Eloquii dress goes beyond being designer inspired to just being a plain knockoff.

What do you think?

Hey curvy girls all over the world,
I don't know about you but when spring and summer rolls around I find it harder to find work appropriate clothing. With the sun beaming and temperatures at record hi's all I want to do is throw on tank dress and call it a day. For most of us, we can't do that. We have to come up with outfits that has us looking sharp and boss lady like all while trying to stay cool. As more and more plus size lines emerge and seasoned plus size designers start to design more on trend and figure flattering pieces, spring 2012 is looking like it may just be a plus size girls chicest spring ever at the office.

We found three plus size collections that will help you look your best whether you're closing deals at your desk or in the boardroom.

DKNYC Plus
I've been a Donna Karan fan for years and each year her plus size line just gets better and better. Checkout these on trend dashing work looks. Donna went heavy on the colorblock trend incorporating it on dresses and skirts. Find them at Bloomingdales

 Vince Camuto Plus
Vince Camuto is a new comer to designing plus size clothes. He debuted a pretty stylish fall collection in 2011. His spring collection offers a full chiffon skirt, a colorblock shift dress, and a bold cobalt blue blazer. For those breezy spring days you belt the oversized tops and rock them with skinny jeans on the weekend or for casual Fridays. Find these looks at Nordstrom

Tahari Woman's Plus
Tahari has always been a steam engine when it comes to plus size work wear. The seasoned brand has started to incorporate more youthful styles in their collections. I personally love the bright colored pieces in their spring styles. The orange leg lengthening trousers will be perfect with a crisp button up or a colored blazer thrown over it for those breezy spring days. The sleeveless colored piping dresses will be just right on a warm non humid day. Find these styles at Bloomingdales

Hey curvy girls all over the world,
There is a new magazine that you all should be checking out ASAP if you haven't already. Vol.up.2 is about plus size women embracing their imperfections and loving their bodies. Parisian plus size model and photographer Velvet d'Amour is the creator of this new magazine. And if you've seen Velvet's photography then you know the mag is going to be sexy, edgy, and thought provoking. We live in a world that wants us to hate ourselves just because we are plus size and I say kudos to those who are forever pushing the envelope and changing the game to let the world know we are proud to be plus.

There are over 300 pages of smoking hot editorials. I challenge you to be inspired and feel a little more comfortable in your skin.

The first issue debuted on Valentines day. Click the photo above to view the magazine.

Hey curvy girls all over the world,
If you live for Lady Gaga and Nicki Minaj then you'll love Geoffrey Mac. The edgy designer's fall 2012 collection was filled with tough colorful leather jackets, flowy baby doll dresses with leather detailing, and wool coats with silk lining. Hey curvy girls all over the world,
Like many, I spent my Sunday evening watching the 84th annual Academy Awards aka The Oscars. This year was extra special for me because some of my favorite actresses were nominated and two of them happened to be plus size women and one came out a winner. In true award show fashion, let's recap which curvy/plus size celebrity worked the carpet and which ones should have gone back to the drawing board.

Yes, Octavia Spencer rocked it in this beaded gathered waist gown by Tadashi Shoji. The color and the beading was just perfect for her skin tone. It looks like it was custom made for her body. With the exception of the hair, she looked FABULOUS. I knew she was a winner.

Next up was nominee Melissa McCarthy who wore a Marina Rinaldi Grecian draped chiffon gown. I'm a little on the fence with the color and her skin tone. What do you guys think?

OK! The color of Sherri Shepherd's dress is beautiful but everything else is all wrong. The exposed bra is what take away from the beautiful detailing of the dress.

No she's not plus size but one of our favorite curvy girls Jennifer Lopez stuns in an all white cut out sleeve and deep V gown. A number of commentators were on the fence about the sleeves but I thought it was a different look for J. Lo. and it worked well. What do you think?

Weigh in, who was your favorite?
